If you are interested in getting involved in community service, the Tuscumbia Civitan Club meets every Thursday at noon at the Helen Keller Public Library. They have lunch and a guest speaker each week.  Throughout the year, they do fundraisers to contribute to a variety of service organizations. The Florence Library is hosting a book signing by Bob Whetstone, author of Cotton Mary, today at noon. The book is set in 1930s Alabama at a cotton mill. Whetson is a Professor Emeritus at Birmingham-Southern College and was born and raised in a cotton mill village near Alexander City. He has published four historical novels and served as Chair of the Alabama Humanities Foundation.  He lives in Hoover with his wife Janelle Henley Whetstone.

The Spring Park Market: Upscale Farmer’s Market  is today from 4-7 p.m., at Spring Park, Tuscumbia, Admission is free. 

Tonight is the Terrific Thursday Night Dance at the  Florence Senior Center, 7:00-9:30 PM, $4 each. Tonight finger foods will be served. The Sounds of Country Band, Country dance music. Contact Fran Davis, Florence Parks & Recreation Department, 256.760.6420 M-F 8-5 PM.
