I was just visiting the Wagner Team's blog andreading through their Best of 2007 post and noticed the teensiest, tiniest error:
They claimed some place in Colorado has the best ice cream ever.

Not Possible!
Not at all even close to possible.
Because I know the best ice cream in the world is from a little family owned place in Western Washington, near me. So that is obviously wrong.

Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, from Shelton Washington makes the most amazing ice cream and sorbet.

How good?
They are so good, they won't even make Peach Sorbet until the peaches are ripe.
They are so good, they throw whole pies into their Banana Cream Pie ice cream.
They are so good, the make Habanero ice cream for a local restaurant, and it is Spicy!
They are so good, I have been known to drive 45 minutes one way to buy it.

But I have heard other people make similar, erroneous claims about so-and-so having fantastic ice creams in some city some place. (Ha!)
Still... I am willing to accept that these other places may indeed make very good ice cream. I would even be willing to sample the goods at these other places, when I go a-travelling.

So please, let's hear about these so-called best, uber-fabulous ice cream makers.

Sorry - The really BEST ice cream is Tillamook! They have the best dairy anything - cheese, yogurt, ice cream. There is just something about what the cows eat in the Tillamook area that makes it DIVINE!!!

I'm a Canadian - BC gal and whenever I go to WA and ORE, it is Tillamook I look for all the way til the cows come home!!

Hi Sarah:  How totally cruel of you to post about ice cream, and not have some special scientific way to actually give us some of it... right now... to eat.  Yum... lemme see... is any ice cream store that I know of open right now ?  Bye Sarah.... I gotta go look... LOL

By the way Sarah... nice sweater in your picture.  :)  But, be careful... you wouldn't want to spill any ice cream on it, would you ?

Yes, ice cream debates are cruel. I agree. But maybe one day I will be able to go and try those other places!

Deborah- You will have to stop in Oly on your way through to Astoria! We are on the way. I know all about how good Tillamook is. (I am never without their Aged White Cheddar!) but just you wait until you taste this stuff! Yummmm

It is funny that you wrote this post this evening as I just returned from Cold Stone Creamery with my family.  My husband LOVES the cake batter ice cream.

Myself - I am not a big ice cream fanatic Although I do like a bit from time to time .. but I still think my favorite ice cream was when I would walk to Thirfty's Drug Store and get a double scoop of chocolate brownie ice cream and chocolate malted crunch ice cream in a waffle cone for $.85!  Those days are long gone!

Regarding the Washington Ice Cream Debate ... I fear that the salt water from the Atlantic may be affecting your judgement, my friend! The Rocky Mountains has only the FINEST local ice cream!

Silly Mariana...  I think the lack of oxygen way up in the Mountains is affecting yours! I am on the Pacific! :)

Sarah Hon, Sweetie - Olympic is very very nice - I've travelled quite a bit down your way and sampled many ice creams along the way. I maintain that Tillamook is like no other.

Oly is fortunate to have such a devotee'!

The next best ice cream was in Cuba. It is so homemade fresh, nothing like anything else - certainly unlike our industrialized methods.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah... surely you know that the best ice cream can't be there. It is here in Alabama. Trust me, a fat guy always knows about food AND dessert. This reminds me of The Real Scoopcompetition we had here a few months ago. You might enjoy some of those posts.
