Take an Amtrak Trip from Cary!

Another excellent find. The Amtrak station in Cary is currently being remodeled, but their service has never been anything less than satisfying. The Amtrak trains that run through North Carolina are enjoyable for people of any age. And (while I'm on a kick about college), your children can find out about train routes to come home for the weekend! Not too expensive, and enough time to sit and study before they can break.

What a fun idea!!  Take a day trip on the Amtrak train to Charlotte or many towns in between.

Trains do excite the children and the old ones, too.  I boarded the train at the Cary depot with my mom and we took the trip to the Salisbury Station.  That is where you get offto visit the NC Train museum.  (www.nctrans.org)  You must check that out.   The children will love the Thomas Trains and the roundhouse.

Some folks might like to take a day trip to Charlotte.  With the diners car full of snacks and food, even beer – how could you go wrong.

These train trips can be a nice change of pace.  The dining and bar cars make the trip very relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing this.

There is nothing that I get more excited about than trains. We are currently thinking of an across America train ride. Thanks for the post...

I would highly recommend!  Last year my family and I took Amtrak from Cary, NC to Washington DC for a few days of vacation.  The trip was relaxing, no traffic jams, Amtrak pulled in to Alexandria within walking distance from our hotel, and the Metro Station was right beside the Amtrak station so very easy to hop on the Metro to tour DC.  It was a great way to travel and see the sights!!
