Lake Sinclair- a quiet life or weekend get-a-way.

This morning when I arrived a truck was parked across the street from my office.  It wasn't marked, but because of a highway widening project the utility companies have been having workings in and out of the area for months.  I wasn't too bothered by them until they got really loud.  Thank goodness it only lasted a half hour.

I have visited larger cities... I've been in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Houston, Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Diego.  I've had some fun and unique experiences in many of those cities, but as many times as I've visited a city today was an absolute first for.. me seeing someone use a jackhammer.  I started to cross the street to watch.  The funny thing is I though a jackhammer was for concrete, but they were digging in the dirt with a jackhammer.  Oh course it occurs to me now, perhaps they were from the city and didn't know they would need a shovel cause we have no sidewalks.

In any case... it was crazy to see a jackhammer being used in my neck of the woods, so I just had to laugh.

Living at Lake Sinclair is a very peaceful life.  The loudest noises I most often hear are frogs and crickets and the occasional buzz of a boat motor on the lake, the whistle of a train in the distance or of course my doggies bark if they see a deer or hear a noise outside that is unusual.  If you would like to live in a quiet place... I can certainly help you find one.  And if work keeps you in Atlanta during the week, but you'd love a weekend escape that is not too far of a drive I can help you with that too.

Seeing a jackhammer being used on dirt is a new one on me also. It was interesting viewing your video.

We once planted 60 pines on our lot. The soil was so compacted that no shovel or other soild digger would do the job. So we rented a jack hammer to dig the holes for the trees. Loud, exhausting and hard on the shoulders. But we were young then. Took all day

Betty- Glad you couldn't hear me giggle in it.

Maya- Ah yes, I can't do what I once could either.   I bet it was exhausing work... what part of the country did you plant those pines?

Jackhammers are daily occurrences here if I go outside at all. There’s always someone working somewhere to keep the city moving.

Oh boy, are you lucky.  I have to sit through noises all day long.  Every patch of grass is mowed at different times of the day and week.  They are constantly cutting down trees, digging holes, sawing wood, banging, you name it.  I am moving to Lake Sinclair.

Jim- I'd only ever seen one of television before.  I love to visit the city, but I love to come home too

Jane- It is very quiet here.  And at night you can see all the starts in the sky.

They just don't know how good we have it here in the country, Tammy. One thing about it though - once you come to visit you won't want to leave. The peace and quiet, less traffic and oh yes, that gorgeous night sky filled with stars!

Ditto, Carol and Tammy!  I usually  hear wind, a creek and sometimes a car.  This year the sounds of logging and chainsaws are sometimes heard too.  Closest thing to a jackhammer would be the woodpeckers :-)

Indeed...sounds lovely...but I might go stark raving mad (or Ray would!)

My little house is in a great quiet neighborhood. We do get some air traffic from the second LARGEST airport in Georgia as far as traffic is concerned (Peachtree Dekalb) but for the most part it is very relaxing.

I need to head home and spend some time with the fish....

Tammy, as I am getting older and my hearing is beginning to wane, I find loud noises get on my nerves. These noises send me through the ceiling. Your jack hammer did not sound too bad to me. Now sirens are another story!

Tammy, It's pretty common for crews to use jack hammers here in the dirt because of the limestone rocks around the lake.  Lake Sinclair sounds like a wonderful place.

Carol- yes, we have it great.

Mary- I hear a chainsaw sometimes too, but in my own yard

Thom- I suppose it's what one is used to... but it's great to relax

Cal- I suppose I should have said... That was from the inside with the door closed.  I do hear sirens pretty often... the fire dept is right down the road.  I hear it leave every call.

Judi- I think so.

Those city folk never plan ahead, Tammy. Is Lake Sinclair north of Atlanta? We lived in McDonough a few years back-only for about 10 months but it was beautiful.

Low- thankfully they were out of there in about an hour.

Toni- My brother works in McDonough... and no... we are about ah hour and half east  south east of Atlanta.   US Route 441 travels across Lake Sinclair.  We are about 25 minutes from I-20 in Madison GA to our north.
