Day #14: 30 Day Challenge, Music-Style...Limelight
Funny how this 30 Day Challenge has gone. Some days have been easier, some harder- I guess that's what makes the thing a challenge. Oddly enough, we continue the trip through the alphabet and today is the letter L. The song I'd chosen for today has turned out to be oddly appropriate and timely now. I never could've imagined the response to my most recent "other post" about the craziness that showing a property with a tenant in place may entail- with a current count of 405 times in results lists and 401 clicks. That's led to a lot of response-drafting from me "today"- and I literally fell asleep with hands on keyboard before I was able to write about the Day #14: 30 Day Challenge, Music-Style selection of Limelight, by the Canadian group Rush. With words by drummer Neil Peart that express a bit of uneasiness he'd had with their recent success and great music by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, the song is a classic:
Living on a lighted stage, approaches the unreal
Rush is a bit of an acquired taste for folks. Some folks have loved the band for years, some have never heard of them. The lead singer, Geddy Lee, has a voive that many mistake for a female's, while the drummer- Neil Peart- is widely regarded as the best alive today and possibly the best that's ever lived. He's the type of drummer that exhibits true artistry- and a guy that'll make even the most "anti-solo" music fan sit and listen to him play. I hope that makes sense- and I trust it will to huge music fans.
I became a Rush fan by listening to my cousin's albums of their's when I was 8 years old. I've seen them in concert a few times, and they are true experiences rather than just a few guys on stage playing music. They've had a number of hits in their 30+ year career- with Tom Sawyer , their hit just prior to Limelight likely being the one most non-Rush
Today, though, I'm blessed to continue along in my 30 Day Challenge, Music-Style... and share some of my Limelight with rock music legends Rush.
