Wow!!!! Can you believe it’s Back to School and nearly time to start thinking about Football Season? No doubt we all have busy schedules. Do you ever feel that keeping a full calendar is nothing but a burden? You shouldn’t think that way, for we are reminded in God’s word to, “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” (Psalm 55:22) I hope and pray you have had a fruitful summer. As this hot and dry season gets closer to an end, I would like to encourage you to embark into the fall season with a faithful heart. For when we our faithful to our Father, we receive the most precious gift of peace! It is a true blessing to be a part of such a giving and growing community.
As most of you have read or heard by now, San Antonio was ranked as one of the countries next, big “boom-towns”. With the excitement of forecasted growth throughout South and Central Texas, it is imperative to be ready not only as a region, but a community capable of handling such growth. As a local San Antonio Landscape Design-Build owner, I have concern in what this drought stricken area will sustain when it comes to our natural resources, mainly water. The increase of population, and less attention to conservation plays havoc on our water supply, making it very difficult to maintain certain traditional landscape practices. This topic, and many similar issues usually end up in a political and/or socio economic debate. I would like to make it clear. I am all for economic and population growth. Just because I mention conservation, doesn’t mean I am an anti-capitalist, disregarding what once seemed to be a free market economy. I am only here to encourage you to be involved with your community, no matter if you are a one-person operation or a team player in one of today’s leading Big Businesses. It is also important to provide accurate and knowledgeable input to the public. As United States citizens we have a God given responsibility to make decisions. We make decisions pertaining most everything; from the color of vehicle we drive, to the people we elect into office. Another privilege most of us are blessed with is the ability to purchase our home. If owning a home or having a mortgage seems troublesome at times, go visit a third world country where people live on dirt floors. It might make you work a little harder.
Owning a home is an amazing feeling. I will never understand why some people refuse the basic upkeep and responsibilities of their home. With that said, what I do advocate; is that appropriate landscape design, and adequate lawn maintenance go a long way in the general appearance of any property. Landscape is one of the first items to be neglected or installed incorrectly, usually the result of exceeding a set budget. At Lee Landscape and Design, Inc. we enjoy working with our clients throughout the entire process, and not only understand, but promote the idea of phasing. The idea of separating portions of work is not only a cost savings, but allows you to make any adjustments to your outdoor spaces before finalizing or completing the project 100%. It is imperative for any landscape project to parallel evolving environments. Remember though, when creating sustainable designs you must still present the essentials of functionality, creativity and aesthetic beauty. There are numerous ways to have exciting and vigorous landscapes with limited water supply, its more than just rock. Because of our irregular rain patterns, and water limitations, it is vital to invest in appropriate landscape design and irrigation.
