Why I Chose Real Estate...A Trusted Confidant

I was born in Iowa. There I learned to value of hard work, living and working on the family farm. I harbor many fond memories...harvesting corn and beans, tending to chores (though I did not like these when I actually did them), mowing lawn, butchering chickens, along with dozens of other farm related activities.

Family and church relationships were central to all I did while growing up.

I value these relationships. Who I am today is greatly informed by these early experiences in my life.

People tell me I am very friendly. I believe people tend to treat you the way you treat them and this is how I run my business and have lived my life.

I entered college planning on being a physical education teacher, but changed direction after spending a summer as a camp counselor at Spruce Lake Retreat in Canadensis, PA. I changed my major to Camping, Recreation and Youth Ministries and Bible and after graduation spent a year teaching Bible for a small Christian school in Iowa, later enrolling in seminary. I spent 22 years as a pastor in the Mennonite faith tradition, serving two congregations in Pennsylvania.

I loved my years as a pastor and people often are amazed that I am no longer an active pastor. Being a pastor is a sacred calling, but many vocations are sacred and meant to serve the well being of others.

While serving my second congregation, I began to buy some investment properties. I enjoyed this and realized it was a perfect way to build long term wealth. I eventually reached a point in time where a sense of new direction was upon me. For those who are Christian, "A sense of call to do something different than serve in congregational ministries." With my background in investment properties and the understanding that so many folks sell real estate when facing the transitions in life, I began my real estate career in 2007. People need trusted confidants who can help them navigate the waters of change. With this purpose, I began to sell real estate.

The real estate field has many challenges, but is very rewarding. Helping persons achieve their goals and dreams is most satisfying. I love what I do.
