The summer heat hasn't left us yet and won't for quite a while, but Pearland ISD first day of school is August 22nd.  Now is the time for Moms and Dads to begin buying school supplies and uniforms.  When my sons were little, to help them prepare for early mornings, I would start a couple of weeks before school started and put them to bed a little earlier.  They weren't happy about, but it did help. 

Time For School!

Another very important thing we need to do is to start paying attention to school zones.  Our children will be walking and riding bikes to school and we need to watch out for them!  Sometimes, they are so excited at being back in school and seeing their friends that they forget what they have been taught about crossing streets.  Also, no talking on cell phones in school zones --you will get a ticket!

Pam, I just saw someone doing at least 50 mph through a school zone today.  School is out, yes, but there are still people around those schools even in the summer.  Thanks for a great reminder.

☂ Pam, we 'Pams' on a the same brain waves!  I just posted about bus safety too this morning!!! Sounds like your schools are all on a traditional school year.  We have had some schools in our year round programs start mid July.  Full schedules later this month.  Sad to see summer end...  where did the time fly!?

The New Jersey kids have it easy - they don't go back to school until after Labor Day! Maybe we can learn something from the schools in Texas - but don't tell the kids I said that  - they'd tar and feather me!
