Amich Country Bike Tour, September 10,  Dover, Delaware

The 25th Annual Amish Country Bike Tour will begin at Legislative Mall in Dover, Delaware on September 10. The bike tour includes 15, 25, 50, 62 and 100 mile loops through Amish farmlands in Kent County Delaware. Rest stops include the Old Amish Schoolhouse where local Amish folks serve their amazing home baked pies and cookies.

Bicyclists will be treated to a catered barbeque as well as a vegetarian meal after the race. Proceeds will benefit the Central Delaware YMCA, the Amish Schoolhouse education program, three local churches and the Bike Tour Fund.

Registration fees are: $35 adults, $15 ages 5-16 and under five , free now through August 26. $50 adults, $20 ages 5-16 and under five, free August 27-Sept 10. Groups of ten or more can pre-register by August 27 for $30 each.

JoAnn,  western PA has a sizeable number of Amish living here, but nothing like this.  We see their buggies in the more rural areas not in the urban areas.

Outside Blog Attended Rain Camp

I did Bike to the Bay for MS last year.  Ended up being the last one over the finish line, but I didn't quit.  Through lack of proper training, cramps, soreness, bad knees, etc... I trudged on and still completed as others would drop out at the different rest stops...

I had signed up last year for the Amish Country Bike Tour, but was unable to make it as we ended up having to go out of town.  I will be signing up again this year, I think it would be a good ride to take prior to the Bike to the Bay....
