Atlanta Hawks Sold To California Businessman

It has been reported that the Atlanta Hawks basketball franchise has been sold along with Philips Arena to California businessman Alex Meruelo. After many reports and rumors of the Hawks being available for sale, this news made headlines yesterday. The new owner has no plans to move the team to another city. The sale still has to be approved by the NBA. There is a press conference scheduled for 2 pm today.

David-What sounds encouraging is that they purchased the arena as well. They are their own landlords.

Nor - That is true. Old ownership was a bit stagnant and made some bad moves.

I think with the strike we are going to see a lot more potential sales of teams happening as the owners are losing millions per game if the strike continues in to the new season.
