Manassas Ballet Theatre was founded in 1983 as a nonprofit corporation.  Its original purpose was to provide a performance outlet for area dance students.  By 1997 it had begun the process of becoming a professional dance company.  Today it is a well established arts organization employing a company of twelve professional dancers.  It is the largest professional ballet company in Northern Virginia and the second largest one in Virginia.  Its, performances are accompanied by a live, professional symphony orchestra.

Its' mission is to improve the quality of life in Prince William County and Manassas through the art of the dance, enabling the community to enjoy ballet at affordable prices. Each year it provides free performances to over 4,000 area school children.
