So Why Do YOU Need a Video Head Shot?

So Why Do YOU Need a Video Head Shot?
Today's real estate market, is divided into primarily 2 categories; those who use video and those who don't. Real estate agents will spend upwards of a few hundred dollars to get a good head shot to place on their business card; however, when it comes to their web page, most do not have a "video head shot" are missing the opportunity to gain market share.

So why do you need video head shot?
          1) Your video head shot is your 24/7/365 sales person.
          2) It gives potential customers an opportunity to see the real you in action.
          3) Based on your message, demeanor, and other factors, potential customers will either be turned on or off.

One thing is for certain; based on market studies, folks are more apt to choose someone who has a "video head shot" as compared to those who don't.

In order to be effective, your online presence must follow three essential criteria:
          1) It is imperative that your infomertial be informative and be under 60 seconds.
          2) Look and sound professional. Don't cheap out on the sound folks.
          3) Have a strong call to action at the close.

While there are other criteria, these are the main ingredients. The 36 second video that I put together for this agent falls within this criteria. Within 1 hour of posting, the video below took the top slot in video for that company on Google.

In subsequent posts, I will cover what goes into video, video editing, software, MAC & PC, sound, lighting and other basic essentials.

I did like the way he postured himself about his ability but I agree with Lenn the hand gestures throw the whole thing off

Michael, Something we don't specifically have is the video business card of sorts.  We have a few things out there, but haven't gotten into it to the degree that we'd like.  The learning curve on the video software has me a bit behind the power curve.  I think it'll be a winter project when business is slower.

Good morning, All. Videos are not for everyone and it is a love/hate relationship for many agents. There is also an age demographic that divides where you are. While I did tell the agent proper protocol for hand gestures, he kept totally ignoring me and decided to "do HIS thing" Oh well, it is what it is...

Video is another great tool to add to one's arsenal. The idea is to keep yourself at the top of their mind when they think about real estate. Video makes a better connection than flyers or postcards, or simple text emails. I use them for updates and people love that they get the info in a minute and don't have to read anything. I don't think it matters if it's professionally done, as long as it's done. Progress over perfection ;^)"

In today's world the use of video in becoming more common. A short introductory video can help build bonding and trust and it also helps your SEO.

videos are something on which the public is definitely focused. you tube has the ability to make things seen - but many of our listings posted there are not getting a ton of views when they are for sale, instead being clutter the memorializes a sold listing - or reason not to overprice

Michael, video can and is a powerful way to introduce ourselves.  I'm not a fan of ones like this though.  I think in today's market folks don't want to hear how 'good you are'.  I'm more in favor of the WIIFM channel.  Then, should you need to, provide a link or a marketing piece with your credentials.  Just my thoughts...

P.S. Daniel - one of our RealBird listings site which is a 'quasi video' has hit over 1,000 viewings.  I'm liking that.

Michael the quality of this video is great.  I'm with Lenn that the thing that jumped out at me was the claim to 36 years experience!!  That one factor with his demeanor made me think "pushy" and wouldn't make me want to call him.  But that's just my opinion.  The video was very professional.

Hi Michael~ Whether I am Samuel L Jackson in my videos, or Jane Fonda, there will be people who don't like it.

I have wanted to use spokes-models to do our videos, who are accustomed to being in front of the camera and look natural. Even at that, you aren't going to win everyone over with your charm, so I opt to keep it about local real estate, rather than ME!

Since we use a team concept, it isn't about me anyway.

Am I behind the curve? Or have I found a way to stay relevant without throwing myself out there? The jury is still out...

Michael - I am a big fan of video and know my way around somewhat but haven't had the will to get one going. I have the equipment and software but cannot find the motivation to get one done for some reason.. I know I know .... Good post and a very worthwhile series for sure....Now to get off my butt and so something in this medium. It is here to stay I believe as well..

I think the 36 years of experience is the company, not the agent.

Very nicely done although I thought it was just a little too programmed.  I would rather be more natural and relaxed in my presentation.

Honestly, I think this video hurts the agent.

He could have introduced himself quickly and then done something to showcase his market or his company - who wants to keep watching somebody- especialy someone who is but tooting his own horn for any length of time. The "slick" salesy feel of the piece is stereotypical of the "old" form of real estate sales.

With that said, the production quallity was "spot on," and that is a very important aspect. Thanks for sharing and I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings - but need to be honest.
