My heart sank when I saw it.  My client had marked through the line on my Home Staging Agreement that states they will have their house professionally cleaned.  I urged the seller to reconsider, and then, against my better judgment, I let it go.  I still regret letting it go. 

Professional housekeepers are not just for those who are domestically challenged,   I recommend them to everyone.  There is something about professional housekeepers and their results.  They see the house with a fresh eye and they know tips and tricks the rest of us may not be privy to.  The clean I’m recommending goes way beyond scrubbing the toilet and mopping the floor.  When preparing a house for sale you’ve got to clear every nook and cranny of dirt.  Cobwebs must be removed from every corner.  The window sills must be cleared of the gunk and don’t forget the ceiling fans.  You’ve got to clean the baseboards, crown molding, and shower curtain.  Every surface must be white glove clean.

Buyers are persnickety creatures and they are looking at your house with a very critical eye.  Clean is about more than just sparkle and shine.  When buyers see something in your house that is not white glove clean, they will wonder if there are other problems they can’t see.

According to Home Gain, sellers can expect over 500% return on the cost of cleaning their house. Yes, it is worth every dime.  You are preparing to market what is likely your most pricey investment, so don’t skimp.  Buyers like clean.

When I ask you to have your house cleaned, please listen.  If you decide to clean the house yourself, then it needs to look as if it was professionally cleaned.  My goal is the same as yours; I want to see your house sold.
