SantaAre you new to the area or wondering what is going on for the holidays that you and your family might like to do? Here are a few suggestions. And if you have any favorite holiday places or things to do, comment below and let us all know.

First, for all the kids click here this is a link so that you can personally tack Santa on that special night all by yourself. Shhh don't tell I told! Here is a fun link to try out for the holidays. My gift to you!

Now, for parents looking for a tree, there's nothing better and no better place than Apple Hill to get your Christmas tree with over 50 farms and lots of fruit to eat while you are there. Don't forget to pick up an apple pie, they are my favorite and ohhhhhhhhhh so good! Need help decorating the house and/or the tree? Did you know that there is an actual service that installs your lights and decorations and they insure that they will keep them working properly and take the decorations down. Whether you know what you want or have no idea, Shawn Romias' website says he has great decorating ideas. Christmas lights have been the cause of many an argument...you may want to give this man a call.

Grass Valley and Nevada City have great holiday shopping with quaint Victorian shops and carolers dressed in period costumes help to bring the spirit of the holiday season alive.

Channel 10 is collecting coats for Kids during this holiday season again. Click here and see what you can get if you donate a coat for the kids.

Do you like to ice skate? Check out the downtown rink, Westfield Downtown Plaza Ice Rink ( 2 hours for $6 and skates $2) open until January 15, 2007

While downtown why not take in the IMAX theater. I haven't been but I hear it's wonderful. You can reserve your tickets on-line as well as your seat for this 3-D experience. On December 22 Happy Feet will be presented and Polar Express is now on.

Want a little something adult and out of the ordinary, check out the Delta King in Old Sac where "Every Christmas Story Ever Told" a holiday pun on the old traditional stand-by's that is hilarious.

Check out Dove Court and Stanford Ranch for some excellent Christmas lights that have great participation of the neighborhood and each house takes on a theme. This is in Rocklin.

Check out Channel 10 news for mall shopping hours, some of the holiday lighted homes as each entry is submitted.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday season!

Nice post, Gena!  I love Christmas holiday time.  I grew up in the Air Force, and every base we ever lived at had the Santa Tracking done by NORAD come over the TVs at each base.  We so looked forward to that every year when my sisters and I were growing up.  It's fun to see that link here, as most people I've mentioned the Santa Tracking to have no idea what I'm talking about.  I have that link and have sent it to my sisters each year.

Merry Christmas, Gena!

Kristal, It is such a great time of year and bring back so many wonderful memories both when we were young as well as when our children eyes lit up. Merry Christmas!

Ann, Believe it or not, I never heard of the Norad tracking until now. I must have been under a rock for a long time...I dare say that may be true about a lot of things. Glad that I was able to bring a pleasant memory back to you. Have a wonderful Christmas!

I signed up to be Santa at Petsmart.  Our favorite charity, Heaven Can Wait, raises money every year by having photos of pets taken with Santa. I think last year the strangest pets I took photos with were hermit crabs.  I also had a couple parrots, a chincilla, few rats and a pot belly pig! -Charles

Pretty cool stuff to do in Sac-town.  I always get a kick out of the Westfiled Center Skating rink.  We have one here.  I find it amusing that you can play hockey in 70 degree weather

Brian, Like you it's funny to see ice skating in warm weather...not exactly the NY look. Merry Christmas to you, Brian.
