Salt Lake City Utah Mountain View Panorama

I was out today and the weather was quickly changing from blue skies to stormy. On one side of me the sky was black and on the other it was blue. As I prepared to shoot the mountain range on the east side of the Salt Lake valley clouds literally began to appear before my very eyes. The small clouds you see in the panorama in front of the large mountain peaks literally grew and grew in size until the entire sky was dark grey and the rain began to pour just about 15 minutes after I finished taking these pictures.

I hope you enjoy the panorama. Unfortunately it won't allow me to post a larger size in the blog. See a larger version on my website by clicking on the picture.

Thanks!

I love looking at photos from other parts of the country.  It is so different from where I live.  (NY)  Thanks for sharing!

That is one amazing panoramic photo.  Is it stitched or is it taken using a wide panoramic specialty camera?

Wow Benjamin,

this is a great image...  beautiful colors

It is stitched diagonally. You can most easily see one of the stitches about 1/7 from the right side. You will see the contrast differential in the clouds. The rest stitched pretty good.

I believe this one is from 3 or 4 shots taken at 18mm. I cropped off a lot from the far right shot because it was irrelevant to the series.

When I get some time I may adjust the lighting on both ends. Too bad monitors are so small. It would look nice printed. The actual image size before being scaled down for the web is 11" Tall by 94" Wide at 300 ppi.

Ben - The panoramic photo turned out great. If you saved a copy before you scaled down you can still get it printed. I went to our local Office Max and they have a printer that will print on glossy photo paper at a size of 24" x any size. You might look into to it. The photo is definitely worthy. Although you might need to spend an entire commission check on a suitable frame.
