My School Calendar Add On

August means it's time to get ready for school.

Burlington parents will be setting up their school calendar for 2011/12.

While you are scheduling sports events and after school sessions be sure to work in time to upgrade your home.

Keeping your home up to date on a regular basis makes it so much easier when it comes time to sell.

What sort of things should you be scheduling for yourself while the kids are in school?

How about:

  1. updating that lighting. Check out the latest in ceiling fixtures, chandeliers, exterior lights and lamps.
  2. a trip to the paint store. Keep your walls and trims in good shape. Keep the colors current.
  3. looking for accessories in the latest colors. Changing throw pillow, throws and vases etc can add wow to that neutral envelope.
  4. taking a good look at that carpeting. Does it need shampooing or stretching. Are there paths worn into it and should be replaced? Giving yourself time to replace flooring slowly is easier on the budget.
  5. those counter tops , sinks and taps can really date a kitchen or bathroom.
  6. updating the hardware on cabinets. Together with paint it is an easy way to update kitchens and bathroom vanities.

Schedule time for yourself on that school calendar. Work on those updates and don't forget to stop for a latte.

Once school starts buyers will start focusing on house hunting again. Be ready for them.

Hi Janice - This is a very cool way to get in both your contest info as well as a few tips for keeping a home up to date! Very clever of you, I have to say.

Hi Janice--I agree with Judy, this has to be the most clever post for the AR contest.  And it's a good reminder that all those projects that have been put on hold for summer fun should not start coming off the shelves.

Janice - I didn't even know there was a contest, but leave it to you to kill two birds with one post -lol! And isn't it true - after living in our homes for a long time we stop seeing the flaws or outdated fixtures, lighting and hardware that can make such a differnce when updated! Have a great weekend!

Thanks Kristine! Yes, we owners should keep our homes updated on a regular basis. It's less painful that way ;).
