29 Comments on Woodpecker Wednesday??? Seeing Red in Montreal, Quebec
Susan,
Thanks. I like your new profile photo! :-)
Marc,
They may not exactly speak the same language but I do think they are relatives. Nice post on AR and for the bird! :-)
Myrl,
It is nice to see you too. I wonder if the woodpecker condos in your area would be more expensive than the ones in my new area. :-)
Stay tuned for my next post which will be a Moose Monday post! I am still seeing moose in Montreal. :-)
Paul,
"Branching out" is a Wonderful Way to describe this Wednesday post. :-)
Well, won't be long before the return of Moose Monday.
Chris,
It is like seeing an image in a miror in the second photo (the way the woodpeckers are standing across each other). :-)
WOW Gerry you must really think VB forgot about you? I don't see your face around my groups much anymore and I am subscribed to 500 members at AR now so it's difficult to see your smiling face with "Upper Yellowstone Falls" in the background!
VB ;o)
PS - I will do my best to stop by more often and wonderful photos of red-headed woodpeckers ...
Hi Gerry, nice to see you again! I sure did enjoy these photos of your woodpeckers - they are just the same kind as Woody.and look at that tree! That's some serious tap tap tappin!
They are doing some damage to that tree! Great photos!
Vegas Bob,
No worries and no, I don't think you have forgotten about me. I only make appearances once in a while on AR (so it is not you). I appreciate it even when you make it once in a while! :-)
Hi Mary,
Nice to see you too! The woodpeckers sure tap tap tapped a lot the area of the tree they were on. They were at it for a good half hour before they decided they got what they were looking for and left. :-)
Thank you Debra.
I almost thuught they were going to cause the branch to fall out. Luckily, they knew what they were doing.
Gerry,
Like te woodpeckers but I am looking forward to the Moose.
Gerry,
They're HUGE! What kind of woodpecker are they?
Mike in Tucson
Thank you Brenda and Happy Moose Monday! You will moosely be pleased to see what you want to see in one of the next two Mondays. :-)
Mike,
I wish I knew but I am not a woodpecker expert. They sure were HUGE as I got the opportunity to observe them for quite some time that day.
Those Woodpeckers are beautiful! I really liked the second picture best, I think because it was a closer shot for me who has poor vision.
Thank you Sussie,
I also think the second photo came out a bit clearer than the first one (less glare from the sky and yes, a closer view where you can see the woodpeckers and notice the red feathers on the top of their heads better). :)
Jerry,
Did you ever find out? I stopped back to see if someone has identified these beauties.
Mike in Tucson
Okay. I did some sleuthing, and those two are Pileated Woodpeckers. North America's largest known woodpecker!
Thank you for the research Mike! They sure were large but I did not know there exact name. I learned something new thanks to you. :-)
