Put on your running shoes, start stretching your leg muscles, and get ready to walk OR run in the 2nd Annual Sunset Run for the Warriors on Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Shelton. Register for the event now up to the day of the event.
The Sunset Run for the Warriors race consists of a 10K run and a 1 mile walk and will begin at 4:15 p.m. at the Huntington Green. Check out the running map.
Team competition is encouraged with teams consisting of 4-6 runners in four categories: men, women, co-ed and military.
The run is dedicated to service men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan and to families of those who were killed in the line of duty. It is a recognition and celebration of their strength, commitment and courage.
The single registrant fee is $30. There is special pricing for veterans, teams, college students, and under-18 runners. Active duty service members, spouses, and children may race for free.
Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each category along with other awards as well.
All proceeds benefit wounded servicemen and women and families of those who have fallen through a national non-profit organization, Hope for the Warriors. This organization offers various programs to assist with immediate needs and family support.
