Painting Your Fireplace - It's Easy and Affordable!

Whether you are selling your house or simply want a new, fresh look...painting the fireplace can result in a very dramatic transformation.

Although the concept of painting brick is a frightening one for most homeowners, there is a product, Brick Anew, that is both affordable and easy to use.  The problem with products like this is that without a  testimonial from someone you trust who has used it, you fear it's claims may be too good to be true.

I recently did a Home Staging consult for a couple who had the saddest "fireplace" I had ever seen.

fireplace before

I suggested they talk to a contractor about adding some molding and a mantel.

Coincidentally, I had just seen a recommendation for Brick Anew on facebook from Shell Brodnax so I told my clients I would send them the info.  I had no personal experience with the product, but I trusted Shell and told them they should consider painting the brick.

They called me after visiting the Brick Anew website to get my opinion on color.  They received the painting kit promptly, and completed the project with ease.

They chose the color Twilight Taupe.

They were very happy with the results and highly recommend Brick Anew!

Brick Anew works on all types of brick, even previously painted.  The kit covers approx. a 10' x 10' fireplace.

The step-by-step process takes about 5-6 hours.

Cost is only $199.00 and shipping is FREE!

New woodwork, new carpet, new light fixtures and polishing the stove were very important aspects of this transformation, but the painted brick really brought it all together.

Hi, Sharon, I've painted brick in a previous house, but don't think I've run into it (surprisingly) where I considered it a problem as a stager in 1.5 years -- just a lot of stone fireplaces. But I have to say the before photo above shows pretty ugly brick, and I agree with you 100% on recommending that it be painted! But I wonder why this kit is so much money? Seems very expensive compared to using just a quart of white latex paint! Still, the results are great!

Sharon, you nailed it. I did suggest previously to paint the brick and of course it did look better than before, but this product just blew my mind. thank yous so much for the link. It looks much more sophisticated than just plain painting job. I am loving it, suggesting it,  bookmarking it.

Wow, that transformation BLOWS MY MIND!  I've never heard of that product, it looks amazing. What a difference with the moulding and mantel and new light fixtures! YOU are a rock star!

Sharon--wow, is all I can saw.  That is an amazing transformation.  I have to agree that the original is one of the saddest fireplaces I have seen.  Will keep this product in mind--not for fireplaces since they are basically non-existent here, but for brick in general.  Thanks for posting the testimonial.

Amy:  Painting brick is a very intimidating process to most people...worried about the heat factor and what the end results will look like.  When you paint with one color of paint you get a "painted" look.  With this product there are multiple steps and layers and the end result is multi-tone, brick-like look.  Much like you would get if you hired a faux painter, which would be really expensive.  My sellers and I were pleased with the price,

Anna:  It is a much more sophisticated look.  You can feel confident in recommending the product to your clients.  Thanks for the suggest!

Janna:  Love your enthusiasm, but I don't get the credit for this one.  If Shell hadn't recommended the product first, I wouldn't have known about it.  Also, the sellers did all the work!

Janet:  I'm sure there are plenty of other uses you can find for the product other than fireplaces...let us know when you give it a try!

WOW Thanks Sharon, not only a great product to share with my clients but I'm going to try and talk my husband into letting me use it in my own house! We have a brick fireplace and I hate it...I've lived with it for 15 years now!

Sharon:  This post is a definite bookmark.  I had to deal with a ugly fireplace with a hideous yellow painted mantle.  During the consultation I discussed the need to update the dated fireplace by painting it but they balked at the notion.  At least I got them to paint the mantle.  There's a lot these kind of fireplaces out there so I will check back on your post when I find myself dealing with this probles.  Thanks again!

Hi Sharon!  (How did I miss this post?)  Fab results - not sad any more!  Amazing how many people are staunchly against painting brick and wood molding.  It's not like we're painting something precious, like diamonds...
