Please take the time to go over and coongratulate Bryan Robertson on his accomplishment.
It seems that lately, my blogging has gotten me a whole bunch of milestones and the latest is crossing the 300,000 point barrier. Instead of posting about all the stats and the usual stuff of where I stand, I'm going to take a moment to review what I've learned in the last 100,000 points. The first thing I've learned since crossing the last barrier is that anyone can write a boatload of blog articles and still not get anywhere. As with anything in life, there has to be continuous improvement. Since I started blogging I've made a lot of mistakes and had a lot of plans, thanks to the many other bloggers on here, I've slowly implemented many changes including:
Targeted Localism Posts: I started a series of posts that describe and show each neighborhood in my hometown. There are 8 in total and I've got 2 done with 2 in process. It'll take a while longer to get them done but when they are, I'll have a shot at competing against the current #1 provider of this information, a local paper. They've owned this search (along with a couple of my competitors). My articles include more details, pictures, and better market data along with...
Video Blogs: Which I started thanks to advice from Richard Yates and others who have taken time to create excellent tutorials about video blogging. I've actually got some background in videoography but I don't have a good eye for it. With a little help, I'm getting better and that video content is getting more and more traction in my local market. I've noticed that videos get better rankings than blogs in many cases so it's well worth considering doing a few.
Fixing Old Blogs: With a little care and attention, old blogs can be refreshed and their age will buy you more SEO along with better rankings on the SERPs. There are some issues with really old blogs but I've learned to tweak what I have. The old articles are getting a lot more hits with the revisions. Linking old articles and new ones has also helped. Some of the people I'd like to thank for all their help and advice are:
- Rebekah Radice
- Richard Yates
- Debbie Gartner
- Leslie Ebersole
- Tammy Emineth
- Craig Daniels
- Victoria Stankard
- and many others...
Of course, I'm always happy to get the many comments my articles receive. A special thanks to Bob Gilbert who has been especially active commenting!
