Menu Bar Color & Matching Font Color,... Seriously? We Are Resorting to Foolish Trickery Now to Keep People on our Blog~Posts?

We are Resorting to Foolish Trickery Now to Keep People
on our Blog~Posts?
Normally I am "Little Miss Sunshine", just happy to share The Merits of Real Estate Home Staging, Techie Stuff As I Learn IT, Localism Posts, and I even share a little Personal Stuff with my subscribers and the world at large. I stay away from politics, religion, and other controversial topics.
But,...
Not today! Today I am venting. So if you don't want to see this side of me this is your chance to go to the menu and select a different direction,... because you can! You can see the words on my menu bar and choose to stay or go. Isn't that nice?
I have heard that some of the instructors have been teaching members to do this on purpose. If that is the case WHY? I respect the instructors here tremendously,...so I am going to believe it is simply an oversight on some folks part when they are setting up their pages!
Do we really need to resort to foolish trickery to keep people on our blog posts? That crap will backfire!
- If we annoy people who come to our blog~posts why would they come back? Especially if we do it more than once!
- If we annoy people who come into Active Rain from the outside and they have a difficult time getting out of blog~posts repeatedly, how does that make us look as a community? Unprofessional? Ignorant? Sly?
- Don't try to trap me in! I will feel like a cornered rat and want to get out and stay out!
Aren't we trying to look like a community of quality people vs. the used car sales persons many in Real Estate have been fighting off forever?
Shouldn't you be teaching members how to;
- attract attention with fun titles or titles that kick butt in SEO?
- develop quality content to keep people reading?
- structure our posts so they have plenty of white space as allow eyes a place to rest?
- highlight key words so those in a rush can skim through?
- attract and keep attention with beautiful, clever and interesting photos or graphics?
I can think of many ways to keep a person reading, but the day I have to resort to trapping someone on my blog post will be the last time I ever write one!
So, if you are one of those folks that thought it was a good idea,... get your head out of your the sand!
So, please fix your menu bars so we can see the words!
If you want people to stay on your blog~posts
work on
design, layout, quality content and graphics
rather than trickery!
