Kudos! Michelle Bachmann WINS Iowa Straw Poll! Sorry, Ron * Let's Talk Our ECONOMY NOW!

By
Property Manager with Gibson Management Group, Ltd.

I am so happy Michelle Bachmann and her "tea party" ideals have won the Iowa straw poll today.

I know that Rick Perry announced his 2012 Presidential run in South Carolina also; however, the Iowa poll now means that the GOP LESSER-rans can GO HOME * former NM Gov Johnson who did not even attend the Iowa debate Thursday night and former UT Gov Huntsman.

Huntsman needs to KEEP TALKING about his knowledge of China and how they don't need to beat us as they already OWN us and Herman Cain needs to keep talking about the business fall-out of Obamacare and why businesses are HOLDING THEIR CASH and not INVESTING in NEW BUSINESS or EXPANSION because they are concerned for these regulatory costs.

These are VERY IMPORTANT issues that the GOP needs to keep in the forefront of the  2012  election discussion to give the viable alternatives to the FAILED policies of the current Administration whose poll numbers are in the Jimmy Carter zone.

Hi, Wallace:  Amen on that one.  I surely hope Republicans don't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory next November.  It should be like shooting fish in a barrel, but the sooner we clear out the "will-never-win"s the better.  Value to their ideas?  Absolutely- that's the stuff that goes into putting a platform together.  But the sooner we narrow our focus upon- and rally our support behind- the few that are electable and in the race.

Ron Paul- won't be our nominee

Huntsman- won't be our nominee

Gingrich- smartest guy in the field doesn't really have the heart to put up with a grueling campaign

Cain- great ideas...great ideas...but America's not going to the well again this soon.  Back-to-back black presidents?  Not going to happen

Pawlenty- tough position to be in.  His choices are Bad Option #1:  Keep attacking  Bachmann- and the stronger she gets, the tougher he has to attack.  There's an old-school segment of America that doesn't care how tough she is, she's still a woman that a man shouldn't attack.  Bad Choice #2:  Quit

Palin- running dangerously close to being a nuisance, even in Republican eyes.  She has great ideas, too- and she garners a great deal of support in some arenas.  Problem is this:  she's not in the race.  Any efforts and focus directed toward or behind her does little but serve as a Democrat-lovin' diversion that splits loyalties and diverts them away from some of the might-actually-wins.

Perry- welcome to our little game.  Enjoy your honeymoon phase.  Hopefully, folks will see that you're not the Conservative, Reagan Republican that you've been held up to be

Huckabee- a fine man that's not in the race, folks.

Christie- Ann Coulter says he's a fine man, too- but guess what, Ann?

That leaves us with 3 good options right now, Republicans:

1.  Get behind Bachmann, do it now and with all of your heart and effort and urge all of your friends to do the same

2.  Get behind Romney and do it now

3.  Get a group of your buddies together, and sign up one of yourselves

But do it fast...so the rest of us can get behind you.

Hey Wallace,

My capital L Libertarian views (as a fellow agent recently described me) keeps me from having a dog in this hunt. But as a resident of Austin for the last twenty years, I can tell you, Rick Perry and his staff do this political thing quite well. Kay Bailey Hutchison was the highest percentage wise vote getter in Texas history, until she ran against him. He cut her off at the knees, much like he will do this field, or as I like to put it- the targets who are in this way.

This talk about China is overblown.  We produce 40% of the world's GNP (DOWN from 43% in only the last three years, gee why...).  China does not yet produce 2%.  They "own" 11% of our debt.  That's not huge by any measure.

And useful as usual Russel...

The Chinese owning our debt is still troublesome on many levels including assistance with North Korea and giving nukes to our Middle East enemies just because they can.

Hi Wallace - Tim is out.  I like Michelle but I don't think she can be elected President.

The Chinese owning our debt is only a big issue when you put it in context with the money that companies will lose if we don't have future access to China's growing middle class.  Now, with that being said, it just means that the US and China are dependant on each other and neither is going to bail.

The way to fix things are simple to the common man.  The problem is he has less to lose than those that like the current system, hence we continue down this path to destruction.  Washington would never admit it, but as people we can survive, but as a government it can go away, as can Wall Street and the political class.

Good morning, Wallace...living here in the D.C. area, I had an opportunity to meet Michelle at one of the very first Tea Party events ever held.  She comes to the table with the core convictions of conservatism...I think she will be on the ticket, if not at the top, then as a VP candidate.

Wallace,  I like the analogy Dennis posted.  Michelle Bachmann is a strong runner but can she win?  I liked Sarah for her guts and walking the plank when no one else would.  Today Sarah does not seem like she is capable of uniting the masses. I think she is a great Tea party spokesperson, but do not think she can win.

It is imperative we get behind someone who may not be perfect in every way, but who can win.  Someone who is not going to continue to dig our graves.
