How I got my Life Back !

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices | Pen Fed Realty 3107554

I killed Facebook.  I feel so liberated.  I got my life back.  I found I was spending as much as 2 hours a day of precious business time doing really silly stuff.  Not only do I feel liberated, but I can now concentrate on more face to face activities to build my business.

It isn't easy killing off your Facebook account.  You can easily deactivate it which is what I did.  I don't feel like deleting every post and photo that I have ever posted.  Can you imagine how time consuming that would be?  So I am a deactivated user.  Facebook owns anything you ever posted forever on their servers anyway.  It is really a scary tool if you ask me.  After thinking about it more, it really could be used for evil as well as good.

I don't like Twitter either.  A mob crowd shows up to rob a store blind, etc.  It has been in the news.  I am going back to the basics that made my business what it is.  Hand shaking, meeting people face to face, volunteering, and asking for referrals.

I do love blogging so you will still see my activities out here, but for now it is bye bye Facebook.  Yipee!

Yes Facebook is time consuming and sometimes a waste of time but it is a way to stay connected. I am addicted to ActiveRain but it is not wasteful time as I am constantly learning or writing posts. Love ya ActiveRain.

I so rarely go on Fb I keep forgetting my password.  It is tedious and when I get an e-mail Friend request, I rarely know who they are.  Maybe we just have the RIGHT AMOUNT of FRIENDS we NEED!

I have to say, you must set a timer and budget your time on FB; but it has been way too great a supply of referrals for business for me to ever walk away!

Moderation in what we do, how we do it can avoid the addiction spilling, wasting too much time for the results obtained. Diminishing returns is something any business person needs to do with time, money, energy expended. Delivery of the information about new listings, local community events, a little of your brand use these social media platforms to hitch a ride. With 750 million sets of eyeballs, eardrums, I would not write off Facebook as just a time sucker though. Don't delete all your work on that platform, not because of the time it would take but think of those earlier links, images all revolving around the information globe and still working and making you show up on the map as the local go to resource.

I never liked Facebook.  I always thought it was a waste of time.  If I want to communicate with people, I much rather pick up the phone or email.

Lots of people have tried to changed my mind but have failed!

When I signed up for facebook, I made a promise to spend no more than 20 minutes a day on it and most times it is less than that.  I have found that even with the little I do, it's keeps my name in front of the masses and it's just another form of branding.
