We have a turtle.  He's decided that he wants to live around the perimeter of my home, mostly in my garden beds.  And that's fine with me.  But it's funny in the timing of when this little buddy made himself known.

It was a ridiculously hectic week.  One where I couldn't keep my tasks straight and had zero time for me.  I was running from client to client, and subject to snap at any moment.  And there, as I walked up my driveway and to my front door, I see this guy on my sidewalk.  He's been around from time to time, but mostly he's out of sight.

I think his appearance and the fact that I literally see him every day now is a way of telling me to SLOW DOWN.  And I have.  Yesterday, I took my coffee to the front porch and watched our turtle buddy crawl slowly, and aimlessly, around our lawn.  Must've been time for the breakfast buffet.

I'm happy to have this critter living in my garden and be my reminder to take it easy.  I need that from time to time.

Outside Blog Attended Rain Camp

Chris Ann... my son wrote our phone number on a turtle's shell with a Sharpie many, many years ago. We would get a call occasionally to let us know where he was.. Fun!

Watching that fellow certainly will slow your pace.

I knew there were cats and dogs and deer in VA, but I had no idea you had wild turtles.  My wife wants to get two turtles for our Koi Pond but some people say they'll snap at the fish if they're not kept very well fed, so I'm not sure I want to try it.

Ken:  That's hilarious and a very clever idea.

Lloyd:  This guy has never snapped at the outdoor cat.  They play well together.  The turtle just goes in his shell when the cat comes around to sniff on him and investigate.  The cat, once he's sniffed for a while, trots off.

Chris Ann - We do need to slow down and take a break every once in a while, but it is soooooo easy to get wrapped up with work.

Michelle:  It is too easy to get wrapped up in work and let it consume you.

Oh wow!  How lucky are you to have received his message and to get to watch him enjoy your yard.  Pretty cool!

Laura:  Fed him pieces of a strawberry today.  I don't think he'll ever leave now.

Chris,  It is a great idea to take a break.  Hopefully you won't see a rabbit soon and think you have to pick up the pace.

Belinda:  We have tons of bunnies.  The closest I usually get is cleaning up their "remains" when our cat gets them.  Lesson?  The fast guy doesn't always win.
