Training for a half marathon on Maui is not too bad. If you get out in the early morning the air is still cool. The tourists haven’t hit Front Street yet, so it’s easy to maneuver as we lope down the sidewalk. Just past the old Canoes restaurant we hit the Honoapiilani Highway for just a couple a hundred yards.
This little jog along the highway is the only place we have to deal with automobile traffic, but it’s also the place where we see Maui’s green sea turtles. On our last run we counted 15 turtles doing what turtles do, just hanging out, right there on the side of the road.
Barbara always comments how lucky we are to live on Maui. Some people save their whole lives for the trip of a lifetime to Maui and we get to live here and enjoy it every day. We never take living on Maui for granted.
As we say here, “lucky we live Maui”.
