As summer draws late, Naperville is occasionally blessed with those perfect days...

Temperatures in the 70s. Low humidity. Lots of sun...

Perfect. We have enjoyed several of those days lately...

With the nice weather, I have been taking long walks in my neighborhood, Brookdale...

On my walks, I usually like to bring along my camera, just in case...

The ten year anniverary of 9/11 is less than a month away. As I look back, I remember a time when the United States was united with patriotisim. It seems almost laughable now, but I remember congressman, conservative and liberal, singing together. That time seems long ago...

With the economy struggling, and the troubles in Washington, it is easy to get down. Down on Washington. Even down on the system we live in...

On my walks, I was reminded of how nice we really do have it. Patriotism is alive and well in Naperville, Illinois...

I love it! I'm ashamed to admit we don't fly a flag right now even though we did for the two years following 9/11. Our neighbors do, though, and it's out front right on the property line so we get to see it as much as if it were ours.

Ken,

I remember after 9/11 everyone had the flags out on their houses and the car flags that flew out the back window. It is sad to think the only time we see patriotism of that sort is after a national tragedy. Hopefully the 10 year anniversary of that horrible day will give people time to pause and reflect to themselves that regardless of the difficult challenges andcoroz issues we face as a country these days they pale in comparison to how great it is to be living in such a great country as ours. Thanks for the post.
