Not many people know that disctricts are one of the key issues that decide elections in our state. If you have ever seen a district map then your jaw has probably dropped on the floor when you see the way this process is manipulated in order to game the political system.
Every 10 years following the United Stated States Census count, the State Legislature is charged with the responsibility of redistricting Congressional and state legislative districts to ensure the equal representation of citizens. Now is that time again!!
The redistricting process is often political and complex, and often results in oddly formed districts with manipulated boundaries favoring individual elected officials, political parties or groups of people.
It is important that south Florida’s communities have proper representation at all levels of government. This is the time to be informed and communicate your thoughts on the redistricting process.
