"Staging Really Works"

by Mr. Dan Edward Phillips, Realtor and Broker/Owner Eureka, CA

Mr. Phillips, a successful Broker, in Eureka, CA has shared this morning a very warming blog & numerous comments from Realtors, Inspectors, & Real Estate professionals across the country regarding the profession of "Staging".  I think for those that may be on the fence about staging, it may help to see the opinions of others in the Real Estate profession, as well as the totally unexpected & unsolicited opinion that Mr. Philips received when he visited his car dealer.  I think this story speaks for itself!  It has brought a smile to my day & a perk in my step :) the thought of being able to help others in these difficult times & family situations.  I'm sure the gentleman was thankful at the transition not lingering, nor the payments ambiguous.  Those transition times for families are very difficult even under normal circumstances & I have seen for myself in my family.  Great to see how we can help others.

Thanks Dan!!  Thanks for sharing "Staging Really Works"  & congratulations on the feature!

The local Ford dealer, Harper Motors,  provides a shuttle service for it's clients while their vehicle is being serviced.  The Explorer was ready for an oil change and new tires, so I dropped off the car and walked over to catch the shuttle.

I was the only person on the shuttle, leaving the dealership the shuttle driver asked me what business I was in, I replied 'real estate'.

The driver smiled and said; "we just sold my parents home in the 'Bay Area' and I learned something new about the real estate business", he added the word "staging".

He related that he had paid to have the home remolded before putting it on the market.  It was very dated.  The family 'cleaned out' the home before the remodeling started.

When the remodeling job was completed, the now vacant home was ready to list.  The listing agent was an 'old friend' of the family who was very firm about having the vacant home "staged".  The driver accepted the agents advice and paid the $1,200.00 fee for staging.  He also accepted the agents advice on pricing the home.

The driver continued that 27 day's after listing the home, the check was delivered to him for the sale of the home.

His comment; "Staging Really Works".

I know that his agent put a lot of effort into the sale but the driver gave the credit for the fast sale to having the home 'staged'.

Good Morning Pam, thank you for the re-post and you very kind words, I am delighted.

It was an excellent experience that I will also relate to my clients.  Stagging is, in my opinion, critical to any listing!

Dear Dan,  thank you truly.  Sometimes we can make a difference in each other's days here on Active Rain & we never know how...may be it is to put a perk in their step as this story did for me.

I just added the part to my blog about ~ how that experience with that gentleman & his transition with his parents (which is emotional for many of us) probably is something he won't forget & that transition happening rapidly as well as the payments not out there ambiguously in time, is something I'm sure he is deeply grateful.   This is how we can & do help people and make a difference in people's lives!

Makes us feel good....at least I can speak for myself, when I can help someone, it makes me feel good.

I can relate as well with my own parents.  So, it touched me in many ways.  Thank you.  Real Estate is about helping people no doubt.  I linked back to your listing site as well in my blog...you never know who may be looking in California... Anyway, thanks again, for the testimony & the perk for today w/ my coffee.  Congratulations on the feature :)!!   (sorry this was long, but felt it important to express)
