My fishing partner is back in action!

DadEarlier this year I wrote a post about me losing my fishing partner to knee surgery. But, I'm happy to say, the doctors have cleared him to go fishing with me again and we are set for next week to head out to the lake for a boys day out.

My dad is my best friend and we talk everyday. We love fishing together and as soon as I can get my wife to realize that my job is catching them and her job is to clean and cook them we will be in good shape.

Insert wife comments here: "When he catches one, we'll talk about it." Or how about, "Keep dreaming buddy!"

But, I am happy to say I will be taking a day off next week to hang out with my best friend and I really hope to be posting a blog with pictures of the fish we caught. If you don't see one, you know I came back empty handed and my wife will be laughing.

This is going out to my fellow Active Rainers, if you are ever in the Portland
area and want to head out fishing, I'm not going to be turning anyone down
for a networking fishing trip!

Have fun with your dad!

Some of the best times I had with my dad, and my grandpa, too, was fishing off of the MacArthur Causeway on Miami Beach and going deep sea fishing out of Haulover Park.  I sure do miss them!

Note:  This is not a plug for my area.  I grew up in Miami but sell Real Estate in the ATL!

Kudos to your Dad! Enjoy every minute - and catch lots of fish!

Of course, if you both wanted to come east a bit and fish the Great Lakes I'd be happy to guide the tour!  (**hint**)  Toledo is on the shore of Lake Erie and we have some of the best perch and walleye fishing around!

Hi Todd,
Glad your Dad is back and ready to fish with you again, know you guys will have fun whether you catch fish or not.  I used to fish with my Granddaddy and the fish were the least important part of the fishing, we had such good talks.  As for your wife's job cleaning the fish--my bet is that is one thing she will never learn (a very smart lady).

Well Todd, I am not a big fan of fishing (I don't have the patience), but I am glad to see that your dad is doing well!  May I reccommend the pink Powerbait however?  My fishing family swears by it!

Nancy- despite living less than and hour from the ocean, I am yet to go deep sea fishing. Don't know why, souldn't like I should try it!

Linda - Anytime!

Bridget - No just me on the limit, I have to have bragging rights - lol

Carol - I used to catch perch as a kid, haven't seen one here in years. But, if I am every out that way, you will get a call. One of my dreams is to fish in every state!

Danielle - Thank you! I am lucky me and my dad have such a close relationship. All the kids in our family talk to mom and dad everyday. One day on a Saturday I called around noon and he said "About time, everyone else already got there calls in." Had to laugh and said "sorry, I was calling your lawyer to see if you fall over board by ACCIDENT, if we still get your inheritance" Dad has the same sense of humor as I do.

The funny comments from my wife are really hers, I didn't put them in. She proof reads all my blogs and I left a space for her.

Bryant and Fran - NO! THAT IS NOT BAIT! (Hmmm, guess who I won't be calling for fishing trips when in your states - lol)

Cynthia - I already knew she was smart - SHE MARRIED ME! - ROFL

Jonathan - I had good luck with shrimp this last time out! That was the day I got my limit for the first tiem ever.

Shaun - Will gladly post pictures. Got to show I out fished him.

Patricia - It has been over a year now and I can tell you that my dad couldn't be happier that he got it done. He says "I have my life back now and without pain"
