Being a control freak isn't easy, as some of you may know. I've relaxed many of my ways, but one thing that can still get the better of me is time--or lack thereof.

I've found a way "around" it, though. I'd normally chocked my day full of things to do, without accounting for that something may run slow, be it through my fault or just an outside situation. I've changed my manner of dealing with it.

Now, not only do I schedule less things for myself, I plan for things to go more slowly. For example, I was kept waiting for over an hour at the doctor's office. I'd figured something like that would happen, and didn't make any other appointments within three hours of my scheduled doctor's appointment. I also brought a book with me that I'd been meaning to get to, but hadn't had a chance to before. Given the slowed schedule, I had the time and then some to spare.

I suggest re-evaluating your schedules, especially on this Monday morning. It could alleviate much stress late in the week.

Love your post. When I moved to the mountains I had to adjust to things being done in "mountain time"

Time management is a struggle for most of us.  Hmmm, just a thought...if we kept a client waiting in our waiting room for an hour I think we would  be out of business fast.

Charlie -- How's that different to how time used to work for you? =).

Wayne -- Yes, I definitely agree with that.

Al -- No I haven't. Thanks for the heads up.

In our business, the cliche "Time is Money" is so very true. If managed properly, time can prove to be a valuable asset.

I did this years ago and you are right it will take a lot of the stress off of you! I knew there were books I had to read, so I would buy them as books-on-tape and listen to them in the car instead of stressing about not doing what needed to be done.

I like to list extra goals for the day, but I break it down into "must dos" and "would be nice to dos".So long as I get the "must dos' done I'm satisfied. Any "would be nice to dos" are a bonus.

Derrick -- Time is always a valuable asset, because it's one that can never be gotten back.

Todd -- That's another great idea, especially for long trips.

Rosario -- I'm glad with any extras I fit in, too. =).
