I think they took on ALL the water!!! HAHAH! I wonder if the water was cold?
Chris - I took this photo at the 2009 Float Your Boat Cardboard Boat Races at Kansas' Milford Lake. It's an annual event that takes place one Saturday in August. It's a lot of fun watching competitors put their cardboard boats in the water to paddle the course in hopes of completing it in the quickest time and without sinking!
The Annual Float Your Boat Cardboard Boat Races is part of a bigger event called Extreme Outdoor Water Festival and this year's event was scheduled for Saturday August 20, 2011. Unfortunately, the entire event was cancelled due to a Blue Green Algae bloom at Milford Lake. Hopefully next year the lake conditions and weather will be good so that it doesn't get cancelled again!
Paul, now that is one of those "Oops!" shots! I'm heading for Kansas next month for a class reunion!
haha this seems like a competition not to miss. Sounds like a great time! Hopefully you had fun! Thanks for sharing.
Lennar Minnesota Loving It!
Patricia - It probably wasn't the greatest moment for that team of cardboard boat racers but they continued paddling their boat even while they were submerged! They were determined not to give up. Have fun at your class reunion in September!
Lennar Minnesota Loving It! - The Extreme Outdoor Water Festival and Float Your Boat Cardboard Boat Races are a lot of fun. I'm hoping the event will not be cancelled in 2012 due to a Blue Green Algae Bloom or some other unexpected circumstance.
