So I have a comment about blog subscriptions

I've sent a handwritten card to some members who leave post on my blogs.  As a newbie, I still have problems trying to find the person who contributed to my blog on Active Rain.  I'm learning.  

Karen - I'm a relative "newbie" and just started blogging end of May with AR?  So excuse that I don't know this - but how do you know who has subscribed to your blog??

Very good post. It's just a courtesy we should extend to those who take the time to subscribe.

Karen, I am one of those people who have not done this. It's not that I'm not appreciative of having subscribers, just the opposite. I'm flattered, honored, more diligent in posting and much more. And I don't think I'm lazy or inconsiderate. If asked if I think that this is important, I'd say yes - a thank you is the right thing to do. It's just not in my nature to act in this way. My wife of 24 years married me despite that fact that I given her only a handful of cards since knowing her - birthdays, anniversaries, all that. I think I'm just wired differently that way.

However, since being here I'm working on changing my behavior. Of those that I do subscribe to about a third have sent me a thank you. I am not bothered in the least. I am however impressed with those that do. I never thought to do it until I got a few myself. I am having a problem viewing my subscribers (I can only see about 18 of the 43) but I plan on thanking them and apologizing for not doing so earlier. (Tail between my legs)

Thanks for the inspiration to be more grateful for my subscribers, but please go easy on those of us who lack this common courtesy.  :)

Karen I too am guilty of not sending thank yous out.  I do appreciate that following.  No excuse I will do better.

Thank you notes is something I never even thought of until recently Karen, thanks for letting us know the ActiveRain way of doing things.

Karen- it's a habit that I've only gotten into as of late.  What I would like is a way to tell when someone subscribed to you.  I'll check the subscriber list and I'll see someone has subscribe and then scratch my head and wonder if I've already thanked them.  I do agree, it is a very nice thing to do .

Karen....I am guilty of not thanking my subscribers.  I wish I got an email when I got a new subscriber but since I don't, it took me a while to find where they were, I couldn't tell who was new & who was old....and then I just don't check it regularly.  So, I gave up stressing over it.  Guilty as charged!

See Karen, I LOVE this.  How wonderful for you to even think about thanking everyone.  I mean, we thank our clients, we that people for gifts, etc, but this?  You're fantastic!

To me the most sincere form of thanks is to subscribe in kind, but with that said, I didn't know how to find subscribers myself. So thanks Karen, I think it's also a lovely additional step to show appreciation.
