Back to School...Playing it Safe at The Bus Stop.

 

Safety for Children Waiting for Their Bus...

  • Arrive at your assigned stop 10 minutes early.
  • Look to the left and to the right before crossing.
  • Observe the flashing red lights and stop sign.
  • Proceed only after all cars have stopped.

Safety for the Public When Approaching a School Bus...

  • Slow Down
  • If you see yellow lights flashing on the school bus...prepare to stop.
  • You must stop if the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is displayed unless you are on the other side of a divided highway.

Safety Tips for Parents...

  • Supervise your children at the bus stop.
  • Look to the left and to the right before allowing your children to cross.
  • Observe the flashing red lights and stop sign.
  • Make sure all cars are stopped before allowing your children to cross.

If everyone follows these important tips all will remain safe.

Judith, good information that cannot be stressed enough.  Students and drivers both have to be extra careful especially in the first few days when everyone is getting used to school busses and children on the roads again.

Very nice reminder to watch out for those sweet darlings.  I live across from an elementary school and just love this time of year with parents walking their kiddos for their very first day, snapping pictures, etc.  The school buses stream in and out.  Our school begins Monday so I will be watching out and having fun seeing all the festivity.

It is time to keep our eyes peeled for yellow buses.  On the street next to my house, they bus makes about 4 stops.  It always seems to be when I am coming back from the bank.  I always seem to get behind the bus.  Its all good.  Time to exhale and watch the kiddos getting on and off the bus.

Let's pray for children's safety as they begin the new school year and for competent bus drivers too.

As drivers, we also need to plan to leave a little earlier to get to our destinations on time without jeopardizing our own safety or to others on the road.

Your check list for kids is an important one.
