Uptown Dallas. It's hot, and everyone wants to live there in Dallas...and why not? Its just got so many restaurants and shops to enjoy, both during the day and for exciting night life. It's where trendy begins and ends in Dallas. And it's just getting more and more popular, with new shops and restaurants opening up. |
| But, Uptown Dallas really does have enough of a difference in the areas that you really need to understand where you want to live. There are some more "laid back" areas, some more "frenetic" areas...and some areas that are ultimately upscale. Here is just one person's perspective.... |

West Village |
| Based on just apartment pricing, the West
Village area would have to be the "hottest" area.
Considered by some as an extension of Turtle Creek (think
multi million dollar high rises and mansions for the ultra rich), West
Village is just electric. Walk around at any time of the day or
night, and you get the feel that something is always going to
happen. Shops in the area are a great mixture of boutique
(Cork) and elegant chain (Ann Taylor
Loft). Then, throw in the Barnes and
Nobles, and then add the many great places
for eating/nightlifte just a block down
(Breadwinners, Primo's, etc.), and you
have much of the energy of Uptown Dallas focused
here.
If you want an energetic pick me up, with professionals and SMU students, you are going to feel right at place here. You will find hip cool people living here, people that want to be where the excitement is. Perhaps this is the "funnest" but classiest place in all of Dallas. |

This is a VERY popular area of Uptown Dallas as well. It has beautiful trees everywhere, and has sidewalks that have pavers. It's very dog friendly too, with a nice, large park area near 75/Central. You can meet a lot of dog lovers here. From what I have observed, it's a bit more expensive and laid back here. So you tend to get a more upscale neighborhood, interested in perhaps being close to the excitement (it's only 2 blocks away from West Village and McKinney Avenue)...but when residents go home, they want to be in the quiet. So, pick here if you want both laid back, but still close to the excitement. This is also where the best townhomes in Uptown are in my opinion! |

Pick here if you want to be close to EVERYTHING! Having a McKinney Avenue address is well regarded, no matter where on McKinney Avenue. McKinney Avenue is the true pulse and heart of Uptown Dallas. Restaurants and shops are just all around. and being on it gives you quick access to other key parts of Dallas, such as Downtown Dallas, Highland Park, etc. However, you may want to consider whether you want to live DIRECTLY ON Mckinney Avenue, or maybe just off of it! Those who live on McKinney Avenue experience a similar rush to West Village, and you aren't going to have a lot of quiet nights. In some parts of McKinney Avenue, you will have a college like atmosphere, with loud parties, etc. For those who want a bit quieter experience, try living a bit set back (like 1 or 2 blocks NORTH) from McKinney Avenue. Gables Villa Rosa is the perfect place in Uptown Dallas in my opinion if you want this type of lifestyle, because you have a beautiful building with incredible tenants, and you can still walk to the best of McKinney Avenue...but you are not right on top of it. |
