I'm at Facebook but I don't like it much. I think I'm also at LinkedIn, but the fact that I have to "think" means I don't like it much either. I'm not at any of the others. Fortunately, ActiveRain and Google have me busy, so it looks like I really don't need the others.

Facebook, twitter, 4square, LinkedIn, Plaxo...  and the list goes on and on...

Addicting, huh?  But can I really get business from social media?  I was thinking about this, so I thought I would write about it.  I wanted to talk about working your sphere in the social media relm (excluding advertising PPC or CPM).

When using FB or the like, try to not be all about business.  When you just talk about your listings, or how awesome you are, or how awesome your company is...  People will start to ignore you, not read your posts and maybe even "hide" you or de-friend you.  And that is the worst!  Remembering that that person was your friend, and when you look him up now he is not anymore.  1 in 5 or 1 in 6 should be business related.  That way, people will read what you are talking about and will inadvertently read your business related posts.

Use pictures more often.  When you search the MLS, you see that properties with a lot of pictures draw the most views.  So when you are out and about, take pictures and post them.  People like to view what other people are doing, so I see that these types of posts get the most comments.

Always be positve and optimistic.  Find articles that show the good side of things.  Find silver linings on the edges of the clouds.  Stay away for politically damaging posts, so that you do not irritate friends in your sphere.  People will gravitate to your uplifting.

When you accomplish something, write about it!  Sold a house, helped buyers get into a house with 12 multiple offers, taught a class on (blank).

Comment on other peoples posts...  Click the "like" button.  You will see, that if you comment on what they are doing, they will start looking at what you are doing.  So it makes sense to understand your sphere.

Look at other sites to see if they are active on other social sites and add as friend.

ReTweet their posts, give them credit.

Don't be afraid to use the "chat" button and talk to your sphere...  Make it a point to let them know what you do, and if they can help.

Just some thoughts, have a great day!
