Mannequin with question markClearwater Florida Home Owners – Are you killing your kids and pets Cleaning?

As we approach the holidays and families prepare for guest and companies I became aware of some surprising information.

  1. You need to reserve your spot to have your carpets cleaned NOW or you may not get the one and
  2. You need to understand your eco-friendly carpet cleaning options and why your care!

Did you know when you clean your carpets you may slowing be poisoning your kids and pets?

 While your floors may now look great – at what price? With young kids playing on the floor and pets often laying on the floor they run the risk of ingesting very toxic chemicals.

Read what Larry West, National Environmental Issues expert, explains in a recent article that “Traditional commercial carpet-cleaning solutions contain a cocktail of noxious synthetic chemicals. One, perchloroethylene, commonly called “perc” in the industry, is a notorious dry cleaning additive known to cause dizziness, fatigue and nausea if ingested or inhaled. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also links perc to kidney and liver damage. Another chemical, naphthalene, a solvent manufactured from coal tar, is considered toxic to the human central nervous system and a possible carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.” Click here for complete article: Where to Find Eco-Friendly Carpet Cleaning Options.

Eco-Friendly Carpet Cleaning offers solutions to Clearwater Florida Home Owners

We are lucky in Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay area to have one of the best Carpet Cleaning companies I’ve ever seen who also specialize in Green Solutions which includes:

  • Eco-Friendly Carpet Cleaning,
  • Eco-Friendly Upholstery and Fabric Cleaning,
  • Eco-Friendly Odor Removal,
  • Eco-Friendly Tile and Grout Cleaning;

I asked Rick Griesheimer, (727-639-8035)  Owner, Inside Homes Carpets and More to explain why consider Green Carpet Cleaning in your home:

Leading the Clearwater Florida Eco-Friendly Carpet Cleaning Trend

Rick Griesheimer, is a long standing 30 year member of the Clearwater and Tampa Bay business community and also the owner of Inside Carpet Cleaning and More is a carpet cleaning professional you can trust. His philospohy is “We clean for health first and the apprearance follows”

He takes his ongoing education seriously and is certified in zero residue and EPA approved products. He has held the Institute of Inspection Cleaning Restoration Certification (IICRC designation) for 14 years – the mark of a carpet cleaning expert.

So what does IICRC mean to you and your Clearwater Home? It mean’s that at Inside Carpet and More they use:

  • EPA Safe products in your home so not unintended toxins left behind;
  • Zero residual left in the carpet so it’s safe for your kids and pets
  • They ensure the proper disposal of waste water – to protect our environment and your home.

His stays busy and works mostly by referral, especially at this time of year so let him know Cyndee & Jack Haydon referred him. He offer’s a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

We’ve had home sellers and real estate investors who thought they would have to replace their carpets and after Rick’s carpet cleaning team worked their magic – they said “it looks brand new” and another told us “I’d feel comfortable eating off it” – which was important since they had a little one who was still crawling on the floor and we all know kids pick stuff up off the floor and put it in their mouth.

They can clean homes, condos and buildings in the Tampa Bay area - from Saint Petersburg in the south, Largo and Clearwater in Mid County and Palm Harbor, Tarpon and Oldsmar to the north. They also serve parts of Tampa and Hillsboruogh county.

So if you are looking for Holiday Carpet Cleaning ~ Odor Removal ~ Tile and Grout Cleaning ~ Rental Carpet Cleaning ~ Preparing Home to Sell ~ Upholstery looking Dim ~ Eco-Friendly ~ Safe for children, dogs, cats and more ~ You can reach Rick's team at:   Rick Griesheimer, Owner of Inside Homes Carpet Cleaning and More may be reached at (727-639-8035) or  Email : cgriesheim@aol.com

Cyndee, I had a friend whose parrot was killed from toxic cleaning fumes.  That is great that you have an eco-carpet solution.

Cyndee, I clean my own carpets all the time, I rent the machine from ACO and use Oxy clean. I cant' stand it with kids and dogs(4). I'll check this out.

Cyndee- Well, I have a solution to that! I get rid of all my carpets in every house we move into! We use wood and tile, much less mites and poisons. The carpet itself has toxins in the fibers! Great post about being Eco friendly on carpet cleaning. Katerina

A relationship between Kawasaki Disease and carpet cleaning was first reported in a case-control study published in 1982 in the medical journal, Lancet. Researchers investigating an outbreak in Denver found that 11 out of 23 of the children with Kawasaki Disease (48%) were living in homes where carpets had been shampooed within 30 days of the onset of symptoms; 10 of these children had played on the carpets two hours after they had been shampooed. In the control group (those who did not have the disease), only nine of 86 families (10%) had also shampooed carpets within 30 days.

Marchel - It's scary how toxic "cleaners" can be - with both young kids and pets (dogs and cats) we are very aware.

Missy - like I mentioned to Marchel - it's scary how many toxic chemicals we can be exposed to without even knowing it.

Katerina - We have so much in common :-) My house has no carpet - but it still gets awfully dirty with 2 boys and a house full of pets. Thanks for stopping in and sharing - I always learn from you!

My wife was the one that alerted me to this problem. I dont know where she got the info originally, but, it was thought that the moisture activated mites. Needless to say all my floors are now wood and tile.

Do you know of any products that are safe for pets? I have my own carpet shampooer and I use the one that says for pets....but wondering if there are products safe for pets as she is always laying around.

Cyndee, I didn't realize how dangerous this was!  I think this could be why we are seeing more and more hard wood through out homes!  In my opinion its much cleaner without the carpet!  You never know what stays in those fibers.  Good information, Thanks!

I haven't had interior pest control for years because of my little four legged friend and I opt for ecofriendly carpet cleaning, too.  That's the way to go!

Cyndee - you certainly do a great job explaining why this is the ONLY alternative when cleaning carpets! More and more of these products will hit the mainstream in the coming years.

Sally - can you get BioKleen products in your area? I was just introduced to the product line. They have tons of cleaners for every purpose!

I remember hearing about animals being poisened from cleaners.  My kids are bigger but we always need to mop and clean carpets.  This is a MUST for anyone who truly "lives" in their house.  Great info Cyndee!

Really excellent information - our pet raccoon died of cancer - he lived inside - wall to wall carpets, all of the chemicals of the 70's - I am convinced that it was our chemical environment that did it!
