JUMP: When you’re doubting yourself, JUMP as high as you can, reach out as if to catch a star, and when you land, hold tight, because that star you’re holding is YOU. Embrace that star and listen to your heart as it says, “you can and will succeed”.

JOY: “The Emotion of Happiness”. You are ultimately responsible to create your own JOY. Ask yourself these questions:

What brings me JOY? Family, Volunteering, Charity, Dancing, singing, laughing, blogging, traveling, etc.

  • Write down as many things as you can think of.

What can I do to put that JOY into action?

  • Set appointments with yourself to experience more JOY. Pencil it in and stick to it!
  • Have an accountability partner to keep you in check. Why? Because that person wants to see you have JOY in your life and you may need that extra push.
  • Sometimes you just have to say NO. No to the people and things that may want to take control and get in the way of your JOY. You just may be one of those people getting in the way of your JOY. If so, that's where your accountability partner, spouse/significant other, or close friend can keep you on track.
  • Make yourself a vision board of JOY. Buy a cork board and tack pictures to it that remind you of what brings you JOY. Hang it in your office or on your bedroom wall.
  • Truly feel the JOY. Take it in, every moment. Feel it deep in your soul, deep in your heart and feel it as if it's consumed with each breath you take.

JUST: JUST be YOU. All you have is YOU so why try to be anybody else? We all have very individual personalities so JUST show the person you have been gifted to be. We’re all waiting for you to shine. also refer to this excellent blog by Suzanne Sands-Somerset Just Be Yourself and Blog!

JACK-O’-LANTERN: One of our yearly traditions as a family is to go to a local pumpkin patch, see who can pick out the biggest pumpkin (you have to carry your own pumpkin or at least be able to put it in the wagon) and then go home for a night of fun. Family and Friends are Welcomed!

  • Carve or paint pumpkins. (keep the pumpkin seeds to roast)
  • Eat Chili or Taco Soup w/Corn Bread
  • Treasure Hunt
  • and Halloween Movies. Ooooh Scary!

Julie, of course "J" would have some great things since it is the first letter of your name!  By the way, my wife's middle name is Joy -- how appropriate for the person in this world who brings me the most joy.  Incidentally, her sister's middle name is Hope!

Brian: That is so sweet.  Thank you!  What beautiful names, Joy and Hope.  I sincerely appreciate how you express your love for your wife.  You bring all the good in love and a relationships that will last forever.  Oh, I tried to watch the video on your wifes website.  I couldn't watch it.  It's probably something I was doing wrong.  The pictures are still so beautiful.  I was watching "Dancing With the Stars" tonight and instantly thought of you and your wife.  You two could be on there.  You're a star!

Julie....you know me...always like to add to the soup....

jam session -- something to have with other REALTORS and get ideas (i.e. brainstorming!)

jargon  something we often use to much in our business...be sure our clients know what we are talking about!

jerk--  the people I showed property to last week that have NEVER returned my calls.....makes we want to  question every person that walks in the door.."Are you REALLY serious about buying, or just looking for a tour guide!"

Juggle One of our primary duties....let's see just HOW many things we can do at one time...and do them all well! Some of us are masters at it...and some of us are not....I think I'm pretty good.

Jungle  Just what some days can me in the real estate world! Gotta love it!

and last but not least....

Jet....just how I like to feel each and every day...Like I'm taking off!!!

Thom:Very nice additions.  Thank you for always contributing to my soup.  I agree with you on the jargon.  We do need to be careful of how we're using our words with our clients.  We are supposed to be helping them, not making it more confusing.

JULIE:  Your plan for finding more joy is inspirational.  I've read some of these things when reading about the Laws of Attraction, but it hit home more by reading your version of it for some reason.  Thank you for hte helpful tips.

After reading about JOURNEY, two things came to mind.  First of all, the band is one of my all-time favorites, so they immediately come to mind.  More importantly for the context of this post is a sign that I have displayed in my home.

Enjoy the journey.  Life is not about the amount of breaths that you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away.

Katerina: Somehow that doesn't surprise me that you have your vision board. You, yourself lend a vision to us all through your blogs and remind us continually of the things we need to focus on.  I really appreciate your kind comment and the example you are to all of us here on AR.

Adam: I'm so glad that this had a positive affect on you.  That is the goal.  Oh, that's funny that you would mention Journey, the band.  I had thought about posting a song from them, but couldn't think of one that was appropriate.  They were one of my faves too.  You know, that quote is absolutely beautiful.  See you take us all on a journey with your blogs.  Each time you post, remember all the people that have their breath taken away by that moment that you share with us all.

Hi Julie,
Well here we are with "j" and as always, you have come up with some good choices.  Joy, life is full of joy--we just have to reach out and grab it before it passes by.  Keep them coming, my friend.
