VACUUMING IS NOT MY FAVORITE CHORE. In fact, if I had a list of favorite household chores, vacuuming would be pretty far down the list, if that chore made a list of "favorites". LAST WEEK, HOWEVER, I HAD A VACUUM SYSTEM EMERGENCY.
My home is equipped with a central vacuum system. So, when I noticed that the Berber Carpet in the finished basement had a collection of "stuff" right inside the door to the outside stairwell door, I hauled that long vacuum hose (I'm sure it measures at least 740 ft. long) down to the basement, plugged it in and . . . . . not much was happening. I examined the hose and saw that there was an area where something was stuck, blocking the suction.
So, on my next trip to Leesburg, I dropped into The Vacuum Store in Leesburg, I have purchased vac bags for my central vac there in the past and they are always helpful. When I described my problem, the owner wrote a name and phone number on his card. It was the number for THE VACUUM STORE in Leesburg. "HE MAKES HOUSE CALLS".
Yesterday, I called the Winchester store and the gentleman said "Bring it in". Words I love to hear. "I'm on my way", said I. Better than a house call. Saves the cost of a house calls and gives me an opportunity to drive to Winchester. So, I packed the vacuum hose in my 4Runner and headed to Winchester.
The Shenandoah Valley. If you've never driven to Winchester from the east, you just can't imagine the beauty of the drive. Winchester is in the valley of the foothills of the BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAIN RANGE.

Dwain, the gentleman to whom I spoke with earlier was there and remembered my call. He took the vacuum hose and PULGGED IT IN HIS CENTRAL VACUUM OUTLET
SWOOSH!!
That was it! His system was so strong it sucked whatever was blocking the hose right through and out. Mmmm. I just might consider upgrading my system.
ALL FIXED!! Took 15 seconds. "What do I owe you?" "NOTHING!"
Of course, I got some photos and promised him I'd blog about my experience.
It was quiet when I arrived at about 11:00 a.m.. Several customer came and when during the 15 minutes I was there.

Added bonus: Gasoline in Winchester was $3.32.9 a gallon.
In my area it's around $3.59.9.
