Planes, Trains, Automobiles and the Earthquake

Many Government buildings and all the Monuments have been closed - and the National Cathedral.  I am sad to report that one of the spikes of the National Cathedral (which I just looked at yesterday as I drove by) broke off.   So sad, it is an area landmark - one of the tallest in the District of Columbia.

The metro is operating, but has slowed down to less than 15 miles per hour.  So it will be a long and slow ride for traffic jamsmetro commuters.

The government and many employers have let people go home early - which mean traffic jams.  It would be great if our roads could accommodate our traffic, but it can't.   If you haven't left work, you might want to just stay put.  Remember the rules for four way stopping when traffic lights are out.

planes grounded

The local airports currently have grounded the planes and their is some damage at Reagan National Airport.   We have three airports in the area - Dulles International, Baltimore-Washington International, and Reagan National Airport.

Be careful and remember everyone wants to get home safely.

We had one last year where my house was close to the epicenter.   This year wasn't as scary, but it is unsettling.
