2011 Warren County Ohio School District Report Cards ReleasedSchool report cards (edit/delete)

Schools are opening their doors in Warren County this week, and the latest Ohio Department of Education School Report Cards were released today!

Ratings are given in 26 categories, and a "Value Added" category.  This last category gets a bit tricky for the top schools to maintain, as it measures whether students exceed one year's worth of learning for a school year.  If a school has MANY superior students already performing above their expected level, it is difficult to get the Value Added criteria met.  This primarily comes in to play for deciding whether a school is Excellent with Distinction, or Excellent.  Either category provides superior education, and depending on specific programs needed, a school district rated Excellent might be a
Lebanon City Hallbetter choice than the one rated with Distinction.  Warren County is fortunate to consistently have some of the best schools in the region!

Ratings are given (highest to lowest):  Excellent with Distinction, Excellent, Effective, Continuous Improvement, Academic Watch and Academic Emergency.

Warren County continues to provide superior school systems, with only one of 8 public school systems not achieving at least Excellent!  That's an improvement over 2010 when two districts were rated Effective and the remainder Excellent or Excellent with Distinction.

Ratings for the year:
Excellent with Distinction:  Mason City Schools, Springboro Community Schools

Excellent:  Carlisle Local Schools, Lebanon City Schools, Kings Local Schools, Wayne Local Schools

Effective:  Franklin City Schools

The weather feels, even the air smells like the first day of school. Cooler mornings, comfortable days without the humidity.

This is invaluable consumer information about the Warren County OH school districts.  Anyone looking online will get a good idea where they may want to look for a home if they have school aged kids.

BLiz- I love that the schools are grading themselves in addition to the children.  We do owe our children.. all of them not just the ones in private school, the best education we can provide.

Hi Bliz. I know many parents pay close attention to all those school ratings, and that plays a big part in their decisions on which schools they will send their children to. Great Localism post on getting the information out to all those parents in Warren County.

Andy, The shift is happening.  Can already see the difference in the sunrise and sunsets.

Anita, We did a similar post last year.  One of our most visited posts from last year, even if there weren't many comments.  That said, we know our target market was looking at that, and they'll be looking at this one.

Kathy, The Ohio Department of Education releases comprehensive district and school by school performance report cards.  Statistically driven and VERY sought after by the public.  The ratings do influence peoples selection of where to live.

Jerry, Definitely do draw a lot of concern.  Shifting up or down a level is a pretty signficant achievement.  Of our 8, 3 moved up one level, and one moved down from the very top rating to the next best.  A VERY solid year for our schools.

Liz & Bill, as I see it that is a great report card for the Schools in your area. I find it here in Los Angeles when a School System is rated high it translates to higher value for the homes as well.

Michael, A solid reporting year, and the additional school districts mainly based in neighboring counties and reaching into our also did quite well!

Endre, Schools do seem to drive home desirability.  Going to crunch some numbers in a bit and see if the stats confirm that for our recent market area.

I have to say most folks here decide where they are going to live by school district. Having first rate schools like you guys have is a big draw even for folks who are empty nesters....they go for the home values that good schools bring.

Steve, It's certainly a primary factor in deciding where to live.  Schools help or hurt property values depending on how good they are.

Michelle, Definitely a good report card overall for us to promote.

It's good that schools get graded; which means basically that teachers are being graded too. It does help with accountability to our children.

Nice localism post, Bliz.

Toni, It helps all the way around.  That has been one of the changes and sometimes arguments, but I think merit ratings for teachers is a good thing to have.  I like accountability in performance, providing the metrics are measurable and fair.

Charita, Obviously the schools have such a HUGE impact on our market that we have to keep up with the happenings.  And these report cards go into all our listing presentation booklets, so we'll have some updating to do :)
