HI JOHN!  Being an island girl - I'd put this in my hair for sure!

Hi Rene - Why, thank you for dropping by! These just get better and better. Hope all is well out your way!

Dawn - We seem to have a lot of flowers in this color. We have  beach roses, rhododendron and echinacea all the same color pink as this hibiscus. I'm betting you could use a smile right about now. Glad it was my photos. Take very good care!

Cindy - I can see the Rose of Sharon and Forsythia. Poor Denise! I can't think of anything to go with her name either. I;ll bet you girls were very close growing up.

Hi Gabrielle - I just love that tradition. What a lovely color to go with that great smile of yours!

Beautiful John, good morning.  Go outside NOW and cut a few before the hurricane hits.  At least you'll have some inside.  Stay dry.

Hi Kenneth - Looks like you and me are in the path of this one. Sure hope the damage is minimal. You must have felt the earthquake the other day. We didn't up here, but did have problems with the phones from all the call traffic. Thanks for dropping by. Stay safe!

Hi Roy - We also had phone service interuption from the overload of calls that day. I expect much of the Eastern seaboard will feel the affects of this storm. We are back about 3 miles from the coast and much higher. Sure hope you and Dolores are safe from the storm. Take care!

John,

Your Hibiscus looks good and healthy! They didn't survive the TX drought in my garden but I'm sure enjoying yours!

On a personal note, I hope you stay safe with Irene and that freaky earthquake. Take care my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone on the East Coast.

Hi Patricia - Thank you! Sorry yours have taken a beating this year. These are pretty low maintenance Hibiscus. I water them, when I remember, and they give us the most beautiful blooms, one after another. Sure hope you are getting some relief from the drought. I know it has been a tough, hot, dry summer down your way. Sure hope you get some relief! Yes, we're battening down the hatches...whatever that means. Over here on the coast, we are all praying for a little miracle. Thanks for stopping by!

Stay safe John with the hurricane on the way.  You should be on the side with the maximum amount of wind, oh dear.

Hi Rene - The most recent track of the hurricane I saw shows it heading right through Manchester, but I think we will see a tropical storm more than hurricane winds. You know, with all the extreme weather this year throughout our country, its almost like Mother Nature is reminding us that she hasn't forgotten the Northeast. Please take very good care and stay safe too!

They are so beautiful, John!  Hope Irene lets them be and doesn't push them around too much!

Hi Sharon - Although there isn't much I can do to prtotect these beauties, I can preserve them in photos. There are still quite a few buds that will pop in another couple of days. This hibiscus is a center point in a Lily garden we created on the south side of our garage. After the profuse blooming of the Lilies is over, we have the gorgeous blooms of this hibiscus to ease us into September. Please be safe in the storm.

We won't be going out at all tomorrow.  Supposed to have a b'day party for my mom at my house, but looks like that is postponed a week.  Hope the hibiscus buds make it!

Hi Sharon - Well I battened down the hatches and all that. I am hopeful we will still be able to get around tomorrow. Chris will want to get down to the beach and see the ocean tomorrow. Me too actually. I love the ocean when it's angry. Stay safe, my dear friend!

Hi Joan - Thank you for dropping by. Irene is knocking on the door right now. Its pretty breezy, but no damage so far. NH has been declared a state of emergency with the storm tracking right through the center of the state. Tomorrow morning should be interesting. I have a vacant listing in a flood zone and I am anxious to find out if the river caused any damage. Hope all is well with you.

Those are just gorgeous, John. I bought one a few years ago, it was a deep burgandy color. Absolutely beautiful but the deer ate it. It never could grow and finally croaked. I don't buy hibiscus now. The deer just get to eat the ones I already have :)

Hope everything is still good up your way.

Hi Toni - I never thought of hibiscus as deer food, but I suppose all God's creatures have to eat. All the ones in this photo were wiped out by Irene, but there were a brand new bunch of buds just waiting that opened yesterday. We had a gorgeous white with burgandy center hibiscus that didn't survive "the landscaper" a couple of years ago. I don't hold it against him, though. We got to a point where we just couldn't keep up and needed a crew for a few days. Hope you have a great week!

Hi Joan - Thanks for coming by and checking on me. As a matter of fact, although we lost all these blooms, a brand new crop of flowers replaced the ones we lost. It still looks great! Sure hope you enjoy the Labor Day Weekend!
