Move over Charlie Daniels ... This young Cowboy can fiddle!

Fiddlin' Cowboy

I live in a very small town called Cotati (Koe-tah-tee) with a population of just under 7,500. Walking around town is always fun because there are so many characters here. You can usually find a game of chess in progress, along with diners eating lunch or dinner at sidewalk tables.

Since Cotati is such a small town, it is highly unusual to go out and not see someone you know. So there are a lot of "Hellos", "How are you" and "Nice to see ya" whenever you enter a meeting place.

One of those places is Oliver's Market, a locally owned and operated grocery store where the selection of produce and wine is phenomenal.

Olivers is a sought out destination for many of my out of town guests, it's one of the first places they want to go once they arrive here.

Another great thing about Olivers is that you are frequently serenaded when you leave the store. This young cowboy has been showing up lately with his fiddle and he plays it well.

He had no idea why I would want to take his picture, but he just shrugged his shoulders with a "whatever" look on his face.

Move over Charlie Daniels ... This young Cowboy can fiddle!

I would have loved to see a video of his fiddle playing. There is something so serene about small towns. I wished I could go back and live in one again

Cynthia~ From the looks of his case it seems your not the only one who thinks he can fiddle - or did you have to negotiate for the picture rights -lol

Anonymous - I didn't have my Flip video camera with me at the time, but I do now. If I run into him again I will post a video. He's a cutie and a tow-head to boot!

Kim - LOL, I did in fact place a dollar bill in his case before I asked to take a photo. I guess you could say I bought the rights ... my bad!

That's a great way to raise some extra money for his education Cynthia. When I was in university in Ottawa, I used to take my guitar and case and busk in some of the busier intersections. I usually spent the money on beer though.

I really miss being serenaded along the streets. If done right, is a wonderful ,cultural event...

There is something special about a smaller town. You never know, we may see this kid somewhere down the line. You have to start somewhere.

Hello Cynthia from beautiful Austin, Texas - "The Live Music Capital of the World"

I love it when I see other broker's posting musicians - especially the young ones. I spend an incredible amount of time listening to live music around Austin. We have 728 live venues 7 nights a week...just picking something can be overwhelming. What I have gravitated towards are the younger (15 - 18 yr) group. The sounds they are originating is some of the finest music I've heard in awhile.

I've been passionate about my real estate brokerage now for 29 years and my other passion of live music for about (well, let's just say longer than the 29 yrs!) Along with my Real Estate website I do music reviews and also have a site for just the music scene in Austin.

Oh, got my undergrad at San Jose Sate University - loved the area!

Check it out...www.marisuemullins.com

Paul, I love musicians playing in the streets too.

John - some towns don't allow this here, but Cotati with a population of about 7,300 is really laid back.

Marisue - I've heard a lot about the music scene in Austin ... pretty amazing. I'm going over to check out your web site.
