Austin TX Weather Broke the TRIPLE digit Record yesterday set back in 1925 with 70 days over 100!!  I rather just move on from this record heat, but look at what the rest of the week is supposed to look like...

lake travis austin tx weather drought

YIKES!  Won't the heat go away?!  At least, can we have some hot, humid rain to go with the heat as our lakes are too low?!

Right now, Lake Travis is at its fourth lowest level ever of 635.18 feet.  In 2009, it was at its third lowest level at 629.83 feet. If we don't get some rain, we're going to hit that number. This is not really a record that is meant to be broken as the lowest elevation ever was in 1951 at 614.18 feet.  That is WAY too low!! The previous fourth place was 636.58 feet set in 1984 so besides a couple of years ago in 2009, this area has not seen drought conditions this bad in decades!

Rain dance is underway!!

Rumor has it we will hit 108 in SAT this Sunday.  Our All time high in recorded history is 111.  We had a bit of rain today, as my dad would say, just enough to wet our whistle!

It's a wasky weather year. We are facing a hurricane and you can't get a break from the heat.

I lived in Austin from 1981-87 and remember 1984. Lake Travis was unbelievably low! It hit 85 here today, and we're all starting to think about ski season...

I feel bad for the area of the hurricane, but a small part wishes it would have headed this way so we could have gotten some rain inland.

The Woodlands Texas Mortgage Man Henry J DanielsIt got to a scorching 109 here in the Houston Area today.  I know when I used to live in the Phoenix area for many years we ended up treating the summer like folks up north treat the winter.  Just don't go out doors during daylight hours unless it's in the shade and you are scurring between building and Car.  The lakes here in the Conroe area are at record lows as well and jokes abound about needing to Mow Lake Houston!  Thank good ness fall is almost here.
