I have been told by many folks on this blog - "I never pay for leads!" So this post is not for you.

If you happen to be part of the minority who invests in alternative Internet and web site strategies as an additional way of generating leads, please be aware that one of the providers just went under. AgentPoint.net has closed its' doors and shut off their main web site as well as all the subscription sites. If you subscribed, hopefully you still have time to dispute the enrollment and set-up fees. Get in touch with your credit/debit card institution today and place the dispute.

Wow.  I really dislike when things like this happen.  This is one reason why I am not a huge fan of these type of companies.  We pay and they go out of business.  Always fun trying to get money back.

Thanks for the heads up ... it is unfortunate that businesses go out of business, but this is a sign of things to come as business models change.

Dave - fortunately, I am a recent subscriber and the credit card invoice hasn't hut yet; so I have already disputed the charge.

Allen - the new models all seem to be collecting email addresses out the same pot...........

Gail - I wasn't online long enough to generate any leads. I got hooked on the idea that I would only pay for those leads I accepted. A great business concept, but clearly, they were not generating enough cash flow. You may want to look into BuyerLink with HomeGain. I have a fair number of leads I am tracking from this service.

I have tried HomeGain but the leads I received were not of any quality.  It was a more legitimate company though!  Have you heard of Agent Advantage?

Over a period of two months, I have received 40-50 leads from BuyerLink that had either a valid phone or email contact possibility. I would say that 4 or 5 have a good possibility of becoming active buyers and closing.I have heard of Agent Advantage, but have already invested mucho bucks in my web site. Don't need another one.

Thanks for the heads up ... it is unfortunate but I bought into their concept.  I found the I only pay for leads I wished to keep great.

I have filed a dispute with my credit card company.  I joined AgentPoint.net Oct 6, 2007, I hope charge can be reversed.

Thanks again for the heads up!

I guess we try something new and unfortunately, like the old saying goes. "If it sounds too good to be true, usually it is." I thought AgentPoint was going to be something great. I don't know what happened but needless to say, I called my credit card company and filed a dispute. I don't know if I will get my money back but at least I learned a lesson. Rather than pay for leads, I think if everyone networks good enough here on ActiveRain, then we should do better with leads in the long run. I've tried Homegain in the past and found that to be waste of money and time. If anyone knows of a better referral system I am all ears.

You know what sucks is that this is one of those times I put myself out there and was trying something different.  I signed up on the the October 12, 2007 and spent the weekend putting together my website.  Emailed my rep on Monday with no responce and then again on Tuesday with a returned email.  Tried to call today and find them online when I found your blog (thanks by the way).  I did contact my credit card company and they said I was ok, but I just feel taken and needed to vent..thanks for listening!

I also fell for this pitch. Never have received a lead. I requested a refund, and was told I had to wait 75 days to receive a refund. Now they are out of business. I have contacted my credit card company. Hopefully I can get my money back.

I was screwed by Agent Point too, I called Visa to let them know but they didn't give me a refund.  Has anyone else received a refund?

Brian, Erv, Nicole & Dianne - Thanks for the comments. The principal reason I signed on and, maybe a big reason they failed, was the lead guarantee. $9 for a lead that you don't pay for until you speak with them? I would pay a hundred or more for each lead I could pre-screen! As many times as I have been down this path, I am coming to the conclusion that, in addition to traditional prospecting and working my sphere of influence, it seems like the services that drive prospects to your website may be where I need to continue the alternative prospecting options. For now, BuyerLink is doing that. I need to improve the mousetrap!

Hello all,

Just a quick note to say that I joined AgentPoint back on June 5, 2007.  I Googled them and thought it looked legit.  Unfortunately, I did not receive any leads so I called to cancel.  They strung me along by stating that perhaps I was not set up correctly and they "upgraded" me with the promise that I will get a full refund if I did not like their service w/i 60 days.  After a month, I called again and they said they had had some problems....and I should see something w/i 5 days.  Sure enough...I received 2 leads.  Both of them about 100 miles away and no phone numbers!  Called to cancel and they sent me the cancellation form that needed to be sent in via certified mail.  I've tracked the USPS receipt and it was never picked up.

I paid for this service via my bank checking account.  Does anyone have experience with trying to get money back from a bank??  I'm sure I'm out the couple hundred dollars but thought I'd ask.  Damn!!!

thanks,

scott

Wow, just went online to find out why I haven't received any leads, expecting at least 10 a month.  The site never came up, the login screen never even posted.  I wondered why after almost a month, nothing has come and planned on finding out when I came upon your blog.  I am grateful to know this information and will contest my charge immediately....price per lead was great and for 9$ I probably wouldn't have even bothered contesting unless everything coming was bad.  Good luck to all in getting your money back as well

This is very dissapointing!  I signed up in August of 2006, and since then I have received only about 20 leads, and none of them ended up in a closed transaction.  Most leads had incorrect e-mail addresses and phone numbers.  Great concept though.

Here goes.... I'm another one who got screwed by Versacom. AKA AgentPoint NEVER got ONE lead! I signed up with them last spring, got 2 leads after calling them 10 times.  The leads were garbage, I didn't accept them.  I won't even waste my time and energy with the credit card company after so long.  LA

I too got taken, they were total liars from the word go. Kept stringing me along, it would take me days to reach someone, and a lady would blame it all on me for not signing up properly, for not changing my password, etc etc. When the email first came it, they pretended to be fully endorsed by NAR, Realtor.com, OAR, and about a dozen other major entities. PT Barnum was right, at least about me getting sucked in by those liars.

I had a virtual tour with Agentpoint.net which was free when I used it about 2 years ago.  I came back to put it in a list of resources for a team page I am setting up for a potential new company I might work with ...CONNECT REALTY .com   I am disappointed that I can not use the virtual tour feature anymore but know there are others out there.

As far as leads go I have paid so much for so many different leads and have always had a difficult time tracking them.  I did get some good results from E-agent.com but was locked into a contract for so long and it cost about $300per month.  I might try it again but the key is always to contact the lead quickly and provide valuable information that they will want to come back to.

I recently joined Market Leader of Housevalues and have got to say it is the best lead program and management software that I have seen.  I would gladly pay the $99 I pay for 3 leads per month just to have the lead management software that sends, newsletters. property listings automatically via email, and has a bunch of buyer and seller email coampaigns along with a bunch of other resources.  I say this is worth its weight and am glad I finally went for it.  I have sold 2 properties because of it since November 08 and have about 6 very active buyers.

Is anyone else out there a Connect Realty agent?
