Every year here in Altus, we have a grand tradition that we call the Great Plains Stampede Rodeo. It comes around the last week of August every year and is quite festive!
The kickoff to the rodeo is Longhorn stampede through the base and into town until they reach the rodeo arena. They had this at 10AM this morning and all the little ones in the crowd just ate it up!
Tonight is Military Appreciation Night, which is super important to the City of Altus and our economy. Having the Air Force troops moving in and out of Altus has really helped to keep our housing market stronger than in many other places.
If you are in the Altus area, you should brave the heat for a bit and check out the Great Plains Stampede Rodeo! It is a great time to be had by your whole family. Come out and support our troops and all the cowboys and cowgirls who are competing!!
