Exposing Your Naked Blogger

By
Real Estate Technology with Imagine WOW! Digital Marketing Agency

A recent post by Melinda Peterson, the naked blogger titled It’s Like Butter on a Pancake really got my blogging brain churning. Mel talked about authentic blogging and what it takes to truly connect with your readers.

It made me wonder what I can do to improve my blogging persona and what I can do differently to improve my blog results.

My challenge to you is this:

Look into your blogging soul and break out of the chains that bind you. You can blog better, you can improve your results.

We all can.

What will you do to Blog Authentic today?

Rebekah, when a blogger/vlogger extraordinaire asks this question of themselves, as you did, what came to mind, if I may ask?   Improving on near perfection is a tall order, I would imagine.

Great Post! So many times individuals regardless of industry lose their authenticity trying to be someone they're not.  Being yourself is so much easier!

Rebekah- what an unbelievable job you are doing, I feel if I ever video blog you are mostly responsible for it. I don't know what it is, I have made several video blogs, but don't have the stomach to post yet!!! hopefully one day I feel comfortable enough to let a couple out, as I feel it's important for realtors to try to accomplish.... Thanks for everything-have a great day-Jon

If you blog naturally, your authentic voice can't help but shine through. Passion, consistency and great content will all bring out your authentic self. Great video - so natural and authentic!

Marc - I love the analogy of "robotic" blogging...that is the exact opposite of what we should be shooting for.  I know there are plenty of bloggers that only push out content for the SERP's but we really have to make it a combo of both SEO and human interaction.  I think most people still want to do business with a real human being, not a robot behind a computer.  I will definitely check out the other blog you mentiones so thank you!!

Thank YOU Mel for the inspiration!  I would say we need to make it our mission to get our fellow bloggers stripped down and feeling comfy with their natural, authentic self! ;)

I'm not sure what to say Brian except THANK YOU!  I could argue the "near perfection" comment but I'll just humbly accept.

You got me thinking about an authentic blog Rebekah, i will think about one and write it as an inspiration to this article. We can always change for the better especially in our blogging styles. Reinventing the way we blog and the way we communicate with our Readers. I am truly inspired right now, thank you!

Rebekah,

Solid and "real" blog and video, and of course, shout out to Mel. She really does "strip" it down to the "heart of the matter."  Her life experiences have given her such a range of emotion, and it's such a gift that she can so readily and easily access them to share with others.

I am so glad to see you doing more video...you know how I feel about that topic.

You are pretty darn good at being authentic and SEO blogging...so, I think you're pretty close to where you need to be...but, I really appreciate the fact that you want to keep digging deeper, and deeper.

And, you and Mimi keeping prodding one another - just make sure you share it with me us.

Hugs to my slightly younger sister. :)

Thank you Scotti!  Great choice of name for your daughter I might say!

I completely agree Kathy which is exactly why I love your blog.  The real you behind those typed words comes through loud and clear.  The canned/robotic blogs are ones I will always avoid!

Rebekah, I watched your video and like the challenges.  I did what you mentioned and reread my blogs to see if I can FEEL what I say and post.  Yes I do.  I'm very upbeat and into motivation, inspiration and success.  So I hope everyone can feel my passion in my blogs.

I would do a million video blogs if I were as much at ease as you are.  You project so well and appear knowledgeable and charming.  Nicely done.

Hi, Rebekah:  I watched your video, and already knew the answers.  As some may have read, I just took it upon myself to have a 30 Day Challenge and go through the alphabet.  The traditional Amazing Grace... started it out, and it was followed by "...Busted flat in Baton Rouge" and "..Johnny was a school boy.  Jimmy Buffett's "Mother mother ocean..." came a bit before Joe Cocker/Jennifer Warnes' "Who knows what tomorrow brings..."

And I doubt anyone who's read my blog with a degree of regularity was shocked that "Sweet Home, Alabama" took it's rightful spot on letter S day.

What my journey there did was confirm once again what I already knew:  both my life and my blog are open books.  I've done some things in my life that others have considered great, and yet a couple of things others weren't happy with at all.  I've set my goals to follow the Lord.  Along the way, I'll take the good and bear the bad that comes along.

My blog is a solid reflection of who I am in every regard.  So my challenge to you and your readers is this:  try your own trip through the alphabet as I did- and see how the crazy cliche' is true.  Music is the soundtrack of our lives.  Second half is a bit crazier- think of your life and of how honest you are to yourself.  That comes through in your blogs as well.

Naked blogging doesn't work well for me, because the chair is leather and cold first thing in the morning. Speaking form the heart is the only way I've ever talked and is the way I post, take it or leave it.

You really come across as very professional in this video and your advice is spot on.  Blogging isn't for everyone and if you don't come across as a natural, it'll show.

Jon - I would say you just need to get out there and do it.  Worrying about what it looks like or how you sound will drive you crazy.  Getting something (anything) out there is better than what 95% of your competition isn't doing.

That's fantastic Steve!  I will have to hop over and check out your passionate blog!

I know exactly how you feel about video Debb and you have been a major driving force in putting myself out there a whole lot more.  So THANK YOU for the nudge in a direction I've needed to go for quite some time.

PS BIG hug back at my slightly older, but far more beautiful and talented sister! ;)
