Pay it Forward...Saved the Life of a Little White Labrador in Charlotte, NC
I was looking at labrador retrievers on Petfinder the other evening and came upon this beautiful white labrador and beside his name was this word (Urgent). I opened his information and he was described as a young labrador with a great personality. Very sweet and loves all other dogs. It also described him as an owner surrender. Reading a little further it related that his last day was 08/20/11. I knew that this meant that he was scheduled to be destroyed on Monday, 08/22/11.
Something tore at my heart and I had to do something. I also saw this quote and felt it very appropriate.
“No one could make a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little.”
Edmund Burke
I immediately looked up labrador retriever rescue groups and sent his picture and information to
Lucky Labs Rescue in Charlotte, NC
I was so impressed for the director, Wendy Adams, e-mailed me and related that she would take him if they could pull him and get him to safety on Monday, 08/22/11. Between her e-mails and calls as well as my e-mails and calls to the high kill shelter in SC we were able to get him pulled and to safety.
The above picture is his new picture and he has been named Beau. He is available for adoption and needs a foster home. Visit the Lucky Lab Rescue site and read more about Beau and the other wonderful labradors that are available for adoption.
Tonight my heart sings for taking the time to send an e-mail saved this sweet dog's life. I also sent a donation to Lucky Lab Rescue for without their help the outcome could have been tragic.
