Why is everything you read or hear about the housing market so depressing??? It's hard to not sit and read the paper or flip on the news and not see the headlines; "Housing Market Crash," "Foreclosure's on the Rise," and my favorite, "Housing Bubble Busted."

Isn't there anything else to talk about? Or better yet, anything positive to report? How about reporting on the benefits of owning your own home such as tax incentives and a place to call home.

How do you keep your clients excited and optimistic with today's media frenzy?

If there isn't anything positive going on you can't say anything positive. The market is what it is, it wont be better just because the media ignores it. We have to operate under the conditions that are there. It's market conditions that affect our business, not what the media says about them.

i do not have the answer - but am also tired of feeling the negative effects from every angle

our local assocation of realtors helped - they sent us all an email with accurate data that supported the fact that the market is still going strong, despite all of the negative pubilicty

so i guess, it needs to start with us - we need to become more  positive in our comments and attitudes - i have personally been telling everybody how bad the market is - it has not worked in my favor to now

today io decided to contract out of the depression - i am setting my own rules from today!!!

I even get it here where we had a 9.8% increase over the last year and buyers are still calling me and saying that the housing market has crashed we are going to see how low the prices drop before we buy? What, what crash? The buyers who are buying with me are getting some great deals because of other agents getting deals because there is no competition for the homes that are on the market.

It is really weird? The media complains about the economic future and then does everything they can to make it worse. There is plenty of positive news out there to report, it just is harder to find and I think that is why they don't do it.

I actually left a brokerage because of the water cooler talk was always negative and I wanted to be around positive people. Last I heard that office of 26 agents closed and I think only 10 are still in the business. Sad what negative talk can do to you, go out there and sell.

The media has been absolutely horrible at reporting what is going on!  They love to put a negative spin on just about anything to get ratings!  If they would just print articles like NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY or A BUYERS MARKET HAS ARRIVED, they would still get the ratings and help the economy at the same time!  After all it is the TRUTH!  IF YOU ARE READY TO BUY, THIS IS THE BEST TIME WE'VE SEEN IN YEARS!

thanks for your comments - i am delighted that i am not alone in feeling this way - it is so unfortunate that the people who are entrusted with our precious freedom of speech tend to use their power in such negative ways - maybe it has become a tradition in their ranks?

anyway, real estate is still alive and well and selling in Utah!!

I'm glad to hear that so many of you are feeling the same pressure that feel each and everyday.  But ti sounds that many of you are handling it really well.  I want to wish you all the best of luck and keep thinking positive and your clients will too!
