Sunset

This evening I saw this sunset; and today was a beautiful day.  With hurricane Irene knocking on our doors I wondered if the sun will shine this weekend?

I have survived many hurricanes, and I can tell you it is important to follow the directives given regarding evacuating your home.

I will admit as a child it was fun watching the trees bend over as if to kiss the ground.  I even thought it was cool watching the water rise  but as I matured it wasn't so funny anymore.  I finally got it, people died, animals and crops were washed away.

The point is' things can be replaced but not your life.  I was just listening to the news and one woman stated she would not leave her home although she was close to the water.  She needed to be there to protect her proper, keep in mind life is a precious gift.

That is a nice photo, but from what I am hearing on the radio, you have a tough few days ahead.

Hi Jennifer - lets hope it passes by with the least amount of damage, especially life - you know they have been wrong before.  I am here in Naples and have not encountered a Hurricane yet, and hope I don't for a long long time.  Stay safe and hope the sun shines tomorrow too!

Jennifer - Gorgeous photo...it's like the calm before the storm.  I'm all ready to hunker down for the weekend.

Melissa it sure sounds that way.  Sort of an exciting week, started  out with an earthquake and ended with a hurricane,

Ellie I am still hoping it willchange course and go out to sea.  I call that dreaming:)

Donna it sure is.  Keep safe.

Ronald I would like that.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Jennifer I am sure the sun will shine bright again, but Irene is going to make sure that we don't see much of it for the next 24 hours.

Jennifer  Since Irene changed course and went up the hudson I hope you survived with no problem - our only "hurricane" was 50 MPH wiinds and 4 inches of rain

We barely escaped from Hurricane Georges in September 1998 while we were in New Orleans. We made the last Northwest Airlines flight to leave and the second-to-the-last flight that left. If we had been a few minutes late, we would have been stuck in New Orleans because the airport closed.

Jennifer it is a beautiful picture and as several have said the literal "calm before the storm".  It has to be terrifying just waiting to see how bad the storm is going to hit you and what final path it will take.  Hope all turned out well for you!
