Speechless Sunday- The Beauty and the Forgotten of Nature
This morning I went out for my Sunday morning hike but took my camera instead of my dogs. They have a way of making the birds and other critters scram so I went searching alone for some inspirational pictures. The problem was it was already past 7:00 a.m. and 85 degrees with high humidity so I did not have much luck but had a nice hike anyway. I am typically out there at 6:00 a.m. before the heat. But I did find some interesting pictures to share.
I spotted a sparrow. I thought it was a road runner because of the longer tail but just a family of sparrows.
I have been looking for a road runner I spied last week while driving. I will find it one of these days.
On the top of my roof, I have had a red tailed hawk hanging around lately so this morning I hope to find it but just a couple of pigeons hanging around, but cute ones anyway.
On a fence, I spied a purple finch.
Some beautiful lavender flowers.
Beautiful orange flowers that are starting to fade with the heat.
Southern California was once just covered with orange groves but most have been uprooted to make way for industry and housing. In the hills of Loma Linda, there are still quite a few groves that produce fruit for packing houses but this poor tree looks like it has been forgotten either to infestation or lack of irrigation.
